[EDIT] Fionn far out does my skills in articulation. Read at your own peril.

I really don't know where you are getting this idea that we need an influx of players. On the NU we have regular groups ranging from many different time zones consisting of both DMs and players. I really can't see what's wrong with that. Sure we don't have 20+ players running around all the time but really I wouldn't care for that if only because it would cut down on my DM time. :D

And yet again we are accused of thinking we are the best RPers in the community. While we just might be  we also allow other mature RPers 2 means of joining our ranks in a pure environment devoid of any griefing, PGing, Metagaming, etc. So for those who really care (the ones we actually want) there is hardly any bearier at all.

But here is my last little bit. If someone can't get in on the OAS then ALFA really isn't right for them. In that sense it's as much a protection for them as it is for us.

And finally about the dice rolls. DMs please don't give me the opposing dice rolls. I trust you all enough to make the right DCs for an NPC and honestly I'd rather not have to worry about more number than I already do when trying my best to stay in character and immersed.

thank you for posting inteligently. knowing that most of you are rubbing that 40 mark does peek my interest. That does make for a mature server which is what a good rp server is all about.

about the dice rolls, i meant no insults towards the staff! unfortunately my community has had its problems with Dms working for themselves not the community. Eg. a dm wants you out of the local tavern but you continuously roll high rolls and he can't get you out. In this situation with no opposiing DC the Dm can easily fake a high roll and toss you out.

Im not saying that the dms are not trust worthy, just an opposing roll helps when you're looking for a way to react to a given situation. You'd have a DC In pen and paper so why not here.

Depends on your PnP DM - I had several that liked to control what they felt was meta-info. If I get tossed on my butt by what I took for a 100# kid, how do I know if he got lucky or is a Monk20?

Anyhow - log in, play, have fun. If you need something else to do, go upsell us to the CoA RPrs ;)

I say *kid in my post to refer to a vibrance of youth, youthfull thinking, or thought without knowledge. :D

I dont think anyone in ALFA believes we are the best RPers around, because we arent. But we have a style we like.

Ive seen amazing RPers turned down in the application process, because its not the kind of RPer we are looking for.

ALFA is our experience, and we like the experience otherwise we wouldnt be here.

And as far as rolls and DCs... In PnP my group has a motto.

When dice and story conflict, story wins.

*This is also coming from like the third youngest member around. And what i refer is something im guilty of many times over. As those more wisened than me here can confirm.

Then please visit the OAS and RP. If the DM's there like what they see, you will get to see the live servers. That is why it is there.

A little of myself. I have DM'ed servers since near day one of NWN's release. I DM'ed at the Inn of the Sacred Yew, Babba Lou, Siflige, TNW, and several others prior DM'ing recently at ALFA. For one thing or another I have seen so much personality go in and out of those other module doors, and much of it was rediculous. The time spent on repremending people and in attempts to correct them just took away the interests alot of my fellow DMs there had, including myself. We would be burned out in just frusturation alone because someone always continually screwed with the situation, plot, or what have you. Leaving those servers and coming to be on staff at ALFA has relieved much a stress I accumulated over the years in those other servers. People are far more polite and the capacity for roleplaying a greater thing. When people enter the OAS they are judged for what they portray... to see if they are ALFA content or not. If we had opened our doors to every single indivudal that entered we had declined through the application process we would simply have a string of servers just like everyone else's.

In essence, to preserve ALFA intention, regulation and furthermore uniqueness we are fond of the process being as is. The game engine may be dying in general interest however ALFA has a base of which to be even more come NWN2.

Eloquently put.
