Hello, Just Accepted, Have Some Questions
Hello! I was just accepted to A Land Far Away, I haven't gotten a chance to play yet, and the reason why is because I am confused. What is the purpose in a bunch of different servers? Which one am I supposed to pick first? And so on and so forth.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The many servers each represent a different geographic location of Faerun.RobbyD3000 wrote:Hello! Which one to start is a personal choice.----
I *think* TLR (the long road) is still the starting server *officially* recommended
It's pretty bustling of late and fun.....
I'm sure others will be posting with suggestions too
see ya in game!
ps--feel free to ask questions or pm me for anything

Hi Robby, welome to ALFA.
As for which server to start playing on; I recommend checking the server list during your optimal playtimes to see if there's folks on playing when you would be.
For myself, Waterdeep and Daggerford seem to be most active when I'm able to play. I've noticed a couple of the other servers with some action during my "play hours".
That's what I feel is most important; having other players and DMs to play with when you're able to play.
Have fun then.

Welcome, and congratulations on your acceptance!
I honestly think the best place to start is in the OAS - Open Application Server. While it is not needed, especially so for you, seeing as you were already accepted... it is still a great place for beginners to get a feel for ALFA without the spectre of expectations looming overhead.
Simply put, you got in because it is believed you are a great RPer (roleplayer) and that you will do well in ALFA. While I'm not suggesting the contrary in any way, I want to point out that the live servers hold that expectation and that those playing on the live servers (passworded servers) are accountable for their gaming.
While that seems a lot scarier than it really is,
the OAS holds no such expectations. The OAS is a place for applicants that want to learn what ALFA is about, how to RP in the 'ALFA' style, and it offers DM's that are trained in handling new players with an interest in our community. This means there is patience, low expectations and a general atmosphere of friendly helpful gamers and DM's all about the OAS... something most new players find reassuring and helpful.
Again, it is not a requirement, just a suggestion. For information on each server, I suggest popping open those threads and reading what they contain. Each server in ALFA has something uniquely exciting about them, and taken as a whole they make ALFA by far the best RP PW out there for us players.
So, the choice is yours... this is my mission statement.
Welcome to ALFA homeskillet!!!

Hey, some of us want to shamelessly exploit you for fun and profit ;)Arthus wrote:Aeolis lives in the city of Shadowdale, it seems like a good starting base, and there are usually many players, ready and willing to help newcomers.
