This template is for use in any article about a country, province, kingdom, area, or settlement within the Forgotten Realms that is governed by a single set of institutions originating from a political entity (in other words, a state. Most of the parameters are left optional. If left undefined they will not appear. The recommended image size is a width of 250px so that it will completely fill the infobox without increasing its size.

Add wiki links to articles to the relevant topics.

Notes

If inhabitants, locations, organizations or settlements is set to any value (yes is usually what is used) then the template will show the "Inhabitants of NAME", "Locations in NAME", "Organizations in NAME" and/or "Settlements in NAME" categories within the template to provide the reader with easy access to categories containing the inhabitants of and locations within the subject of the article.

If the article needs to be prefixed with the word "the" and this is not included in the article name, set the usethe parameter to "yes". For example, consider the article United Moonshaes. "Inhabitants of United Moonshaes" does not make sense, but "Inhabitants of the United Moonshaes" does. Using the usethe parameter in this situation will solve this issue. In situations where the name of the location is not provided by the name parameter of the template, the article's name will be used instead.

In the case of defining the rulers of a state, you must list the head of state, head of government, or both. To do this, first, enter the title of the person in question into either the "head of state" or "head of government" field. Then, enter the name of the ruler into either "leader1" (for "head of state") or "leader2" (for "head of government"). If the head of state and head of government are the same person, simply list the head of state.

For dates, at least one date should be listed (due to the limitations of the wiki code implemented). The easiest date to use would probably be the establishing date of the state. For this, enter into the "established" field the date of the state's creation. If this event was marked by something particularly noteworthy that you feel merits mentioning, then enter the date into the "start date" field instead and enter the name of the event (with or without wiki links) into the "start event" field. Similarly, if the state no longer exists (as of 1479 DR), then list the date of its dissolution in the "disestablished" field or, if you prefer, in the "end date" field with a title for the ending event in question within the "end event" field. For any notable historical events between the state's beginning and its end, enter the event's name into one of the "event" fields and the event's date into the corresponding "date" field.
