I like the stuffs that are said here and I would have voted for Mik happily,
that is if it wasn't for that horrible Cake comment which I find horribly offensive against my one religion and the only real truth on this earth: my mom's cakes.

Re: Mikayla PA Thread
It is unfortunate that with such a small community we still hold to this dogma. The lack of people DMing is pretty telling, and this change would go a long ways to rectifying that. Given the lack of disciplinary issues in 2014, we could throw people a bone, and then just ban cheaters, if anyone even bothers.Swift wrote:Well, I suppose we can't agree on everything.Mikayla wrote:I do have a line I am not prepared to cross however, and so in the interest of full disclosure, here it is: No DMing where you play, and no playing where you DM. That is a rule I am going to stand by.
Would you even be open to a test of this policy on one server if a HDM were willing Mikayla?
Re: Mikayla PA Thread
It would make me not play if we would DM where we play.
I think we're mostly over Meta/cheating and other shenanigans and we're much looser and more trusting as we should, most of us are mature (maybe i'm naive but I think so).
That said I would still wouldn't want to RP with someone who I know can spawn a lich or a holly avenger on me an hour later.
I mean, i'm human, and even if I -think- it won't effect my RP, it might be lingering in the back of my head, and I just don't want that feeling.
That on the same server we have "citizens" with more privileges, class A and class B.
All that assuming we're all saints, which i'm not sure everyone past, present and future are.
So for me DM where you play is really the last resort.

Every time we bent the rules and allowed someone to try this, they have cheated/abused the power. Could we afford to ban most DMs? And who is going to go through all those logs?HEEGZ wrote:It is unfortunate that with such a small community we still hold to this dogma. Re: Mikayla PA Thread
I would note that we did have disciplinary issues in 2014-- a couple (maybe just one? I would need to rummage pretty hard to find where specific talks fell; some proper insanity in either late 2013 or early 2014) serious enough to get into all-admin discussions. Our current DMA prefers to keep details private (general argument being that a bad DM isn't necessarily a bad player, so we should try not to ostrazie a good player/bad DM combo), so I won't repost.
Mostly don't want a "nothing's gone wrong!" post to stand, because that's not entirely true. Much less has gone wrong (or, at least, the things which have gone wrong were minor enough that very few things were all-admin talks), and I would be very hard pressed to argue that ALFA isn't getting better in these regards, but ALFA isn't full of faultless saints. It's full of people, and those people show the same diverse traits, behaviors, and temptations as people.

Re: Mikayla PA Thread
I tend to agree with the previous three posts (which in itself is telling!); I'm quite happy to see/hear there's been less trouble/mischief in recent times, and would agree in general that ALFAns are more mature (and mellower) than we used to be in the past.
But we're still definitely human; lately I've found myself constantly asking well meaning people to not tell me too much meta info because it does end up impacting RP at some point, even by accident/slip of memory/subconsciously (as well as potentially spoiling the fun of surprise).

Re: Mikayla PA Thread
HEEGZ the great asked:
That said, I am NOT the ALFA-Dictator, I am just one of 5 Admin, so while I am not open to it, that is obviously not the last word on the subject.
I agree with a lot that has been said about it - Ith's quote about fences is exactly how I feel about it - good fences make good neighbors. In other words, good boundaries keep us from straying into trouble.
Its not that I don't trust ALFAns, its just that, after years of being PA and more than a decade of being an ALFAn, I don't trust ALFAns.
Well, OK, I have a lot of faith in ALFAns, but not enough for this rule change.
Nope. Not at all open to it.Would you even be open to a test of this policy on one server if a HDM were willing Mikayla?

I have always believed having more DMs that can be banned if they go rogue is better than not having many DMs in the first place.FoamBats4All wrote:Could we afford to ban most DMs? And who is going to go through all those logs?

Just got my vote, here is why.Mikayla wrote: Well, OK, I have a lot of faith in ALFAns, but not enough for this rule change.

So that I do not have to say that I am in agreement with Mikayla,
I will say that I am in agreement with kid and especially Ithildur. Incorruptability is not that temptations do not affect you, but that you avoid being in those situations. I also tend to trust people more who contend that they might not be able to fully trust themselves...
