Is there an actual need for NPCs to say arbitrary things when talked to?

I doubt that we could make full conversation trees on the fly, but the whole custom token system is designed pretty specifically to let NPCs say things that you didn't specify in the toolset.

"I used to be an adventurer like you, before I took an arrow to the knee."

You know it's gonna happen.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

We would want to sort by region, presumably. Those shirtless longboat-riding northmen would surely have the arrow-to-the-knee euphemism for getting married. But what about those tawny merchantile Amnians? We'd have to swipe something from real-world Spain or Italy.

Glad you enjoyed my continuing experiment, bb. Zelknolf, do you mean that there is a possibility to create npc conversation trees within the dm client ?

Somewhat indirectly.

You can build a conversation and say "This thing right here is actually this numbered token." and inside of scripts you can say "Put this string into this numbered token."

So you could have an NPC with a basic conversation (Comment: Token999001 -- answers Token999002 or Token999003) and then the NPC's OnConversation script grabs values off of the NPC to put them into those numbered tokens. Would allow the content of the conversation to change dynamically.

HEEGZ gave me a show and tell of how #not works and some other thing with the listen and spot checks... yes I'd seen in changelogs, but I guess a DM sitting down and saying "here's what's in the bag of tricks" is something I'd encourage people to ask for a demo of if they don't know these neat things.

User guides / bullets in a release is one thing, seeing someone all hyped up on it and deploying IG is quite another!

A demo video would mean it would only need to be demo'd once as well.
