Yeah, I don't mind the criticizing part. It's the forcing your views on others part I don't much like.
I'm all about free choice, man.
(And criticizing, I do like me some of that)

It is. If ALFA had good rules it wouldn't need to be punished like this.
If ALFA had good players it wouldn't need threads like these.

Anyway, I'm getting the sense that there's a relatively broad consensus that something should be done, whether it be an increased level start, an option for DMs to provide an increased level start, or just increased xp for lowbies. ALFA evolves at a glacial pace, so I just hope that the general desire for change on this front seeps into the collective consciousness and someone gets inspired to push changes through in a year or two.

ALFA is getting old and it can either accept old age with grace and serenity by making slow reasonable changes to facilitate ease of play, or it can go nuts and buy a toupe and a sports car and insist that it can continue as a PW forever by just adding more static content.

Thread finished.

it looks like we may have to bump it to page ten to get a lock. i'd do so now, but apparently i no longer have mod permissions for general discussion...

It's a conspiracy! See what happens when we lose Hialmar!? *shakes fist*
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.
