So for a zSpawn NPC I can possess and then target self (NPC) and givefeat 3740... got it. Will test now.

[edit]
Success at giving a zSpawn NPC, human male fighter 3, the correct feat. He can also use it. However, when spawning the horse item into his inventory, a horse is not spawned for him to mount/dismount. This was on TSM, will give it another shot on BG.

Not working on BG for NPCs either. Also, could not mount a PC's horse, using a NPC with the feat.

please make sure to PM your DM a consent for said mounting, also probably better if you just keep that stuff btwn you and the module....

Annoying. I may have broken NPCs in the first round of fixes.

Anyhow, NPCs don't need an ownership item. Just search your creator for a warhorse on the creature tab and spawn 'em.

In light of this potential concern, pursuant to the administration policy on this topic, the administration takes no responsibility for any abuse, detrimental damage, or subsequent misuse of animals specifically the fore mentioned war horse. Any potential unwarranted and undesirable actions whether voluntary or involuntary between the said individual, the animal, and any other creatures is completely incidental and unintentional. The administration in its completeness including all associated partners in no event shall be liable for incidental or consequential damages arising from use of these animals. Finally, in relation to this matter, the administration requests all users and potential users of a war horse get written permission from the administration before requesting to mount or be mounted.

Can you give a quick explanation on how to use hoses with PC/NPC?
I attempted a few times briefly and failed.

Instructions for DMs to mount a NPC onto a horse:

1. Select or create a NPC capable of riding horses (most humanoids).
2. Create a "Warhorse{Rideable..." from the creator palette.
3. Possess the NPC.
4. Target self (the NPC)
5. Open the console [~] key, enter this text:

Code: Select all

givefeat 3740
6. Close the console.
7. Press C and drag the "Mount or Dismount Horse" feat to your quickbar.
8. Target the "Warhorse"
9. Cast the feat from quickbar.

Just confirmed this to work for both zSpawn and palette NPCs on TSM, using both brown and white horse types. Also, was successful for a dwarf and hin NPC as well, which have scaling horses/ponies too. Nice work.

It is, specifically, any NPC with a playable race. And I guess I should warn that it will check the race/subrace combination (so if you've tooled an "Outsider" which looks like a human, it will respond with a mighty "I have no clue what to do with this." -- or a "Giant" which looks like a scaled-up dwarf. So no giant horses unless we write special cases to handle giant horses, but that's going to be lower priority than making our planetouched PCs work. 'cuz there sure are at least four of 'em.)

Also, similar steps for PCs, but you acquire the horse to use the feat on by acquiring one of the "(( OOC )) Horse Ownership" items, and PCs can't mount horses that aren't theirs. But talking to a horse makes it follow the owner if the owner is in the same area, so one could sort a stable full of horses by just talking to each one and then said horse will walk up to the owner, provided enough distance (it's the same logic as DMFI follow).

Tried with my PC and a DM and there seemed to be a few problems.

Could only mount the horse that was spawned when ownership item was spawned.
Could not mount any other rideable warhorse, even when had the feat and an ownership item

Also, sometimes when spawning ownership item no horse was spawned. (in which case could not mount any horse at all as the only horse I could mouth was the one related to my ownership item)

It looks great when horse was walking.

However, when horse was running, horse seemed to be standing and gliding and the rider was also standing on the floor (inside the horse) and gliding with. when stopping rider resumed pretty looking mounted position.

Generally speaking it looks awesome (when standing/walking, that is (: ).
I hope there's something i'm missing or doing wrong.
Follow/don't follow worked great.

My instructions above were specifically for DMs and NPC usage.

There is a different procedure for PCs.

Also, I noticed the dwarf NPC fell through his horse. Not sure what race your PC is kid.

[edit]
Instructions for DMs to award a horse to PCs:

1. Target PC.
2. Double click on the OOC horse item in the DM creator menu.
3. Right click on PC, select second box from top.
4. Give/take gold value -150gp.

Instructions for PCs to mount/dismount a horse:

1. Buy horse from vendor (future).
2. Obtain horse from DM.
3. Verify DM removed 150gp.
4. Drag "Mount or Dismount Horse" feat to quickbar.
5. Target horse and click on feat.
6. Option, you may talk to horse to enable/disable autofollow.

It was a human.
And didn't buy the horse (meaning no gold was removed, but no horse was obtained).
It was on MS, if that matters.

There are a couple of ways this could have gone wrong. Catch me on IRC and I'll log in and see if we can't get it to work.
