Were people going to be confused that we were starting on the 4th day of the 15th month?

To be honest, I looked at it and thought it was meaning quarter past four and eight seconds. Took me a few moments to quick. But then maybe this long weekend has just slowed down my mind.

I believe that's when Duke Nukem Forever is going to be released, too.

The first one looks better - more eye catching. At least on its own. When it's added into the website (I think it was going there, right?) the second MAY look smoother.

The silver one is stylish and very catchy. Thanks SenorT!

The Longcat one is also great.

Woah, didn't expect it to be up here already.

I genuinely appreciate the nit-picking on the TM business. While I think it would be more specific to move it between the Nights and the 2, it'd look kinda sloppy. As it stands though, I doubt even WotC would bother picking that nit, and if they did, I'd simply change it and be done with it.

As for the colors: silver/gray I think looks sharper in and of itself, but gold/brown/sepia would likely go better with the site, though it would also stand out less. Though perhaps that'd be a good thing considering the drastic difference in design between the ad and the rest of the site. I could go either way.

As for the date: if Euros feel oppressed by the American format (half tounge-in-cheek) I'd be glad to change it, though all the alternatives seem less good. 15.04.08 would honestly confuse non-euro-types (sorry, I know...) and 04.08 would probably just confuse everyone. "April" would do the job but would take away from the impact of the design overall.

As for the length, it's just how we're rolling on the site atm. And don't worry, I plan to update the text once we go live.

Tangent - I honestly really like the way the simplified 2-tone logo looks in this and I plan to make more graphics using it. I'm honestly quite happy with the way the whole thing came together and I'm especially encouraged by all the positive feedback. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with some other content around this design theme for us to use in our wider NWN2 launch campaign.

Thanks all!

What about 15/04/2008? Or 15.04.2008? Or 15-04-2008?

Anything starting in 15 is really confusing for no good reason to those of us who do the obviously illogical month-first format. There's really no good solution, which is why I suggest leaving it as-is simply because the largest part of our audience uses the month-first format and it's my personal feeling like the day-first format is overly confusing. Is this the same for euros? Are you guys not at all used to seeing the silly American format, or is it such that after looking at it a second you go 'oh, it's in that dumb american format' like we do whenever we hear a person whose height is given in meters? (Huh? How are you 1.75 of anything tall? Ooooh! It's meters! Gotcha.)

I don't mean to underhandedly perpetuate any 'American way or the highway' thinking, I just mean to put out the message in the optimal way.

Here's the question for you euros: assuming that a significant majority of our audience is in the US, but we don't want to overly confuse or alienate any of our audience (regardless of how they read their date format) and also your graphic designer thinks the numbers look at least moderately cooler than words (I know, sheesh, what's with him?), would you like to see either "April 2008" or "04.15.08?"

Goodness, this is an awful lot of typing for such a small point. If any euros took the time to read this and still want it changed, it probably should be, since it probably has taken more time than actually making the graphic.

Gah! Sorry, I meant 04/15/2008? Or 04.15.2008? Or 04-15-2008?

And it's not just euro's, you know. More like the rest of the world :P

But to answer your question, as a non-American (ie. someone use to the dd/mm/yyyy format), "April 2008" seems better when written down. However, as you're the expert, I say go with the numbers. Maybe just use something instead of '.' as seperaters? And if anyone is too darn stupid to work it out, we probably don't want them here anyway ;)

Are we going to try to post the banner in other places besides on our website?

Sepia looks good here, but Seilver if we're putting it in other places.

As for time format, I like the 4.15.08

It looks good.

I take offense!!

I'm australian, and there are playters in the middle east, new zealand, SE asia as well as europe and the you ess of aye. As far as i know most other places in the world outside america have day - month - year. It's sort of common sense.

Like the metric system.....

;) hehe

PS - i reckon just leave it the way it is in the interests of less work and post it (silver as everyone agrees). If someone cant figure out there aren't 15 months in a year then i'm sure that they'll ask on chat and get ridiculed enough to never come to alfa anyways :?
