Feel like some NWN2? Try beta testing the OAS2!
For time being, I've got a build of the OAS2 up and hosted using the new ACR- it's not quite as sexy as the core scripting package will be on the full beta servers (limitations of running hak-less), but most of the core systems are in place. Should be posting to gamespy in PW Story as "ALFA OAS2 Test Server".
You don't need haks to play on the OAS2, the player password is the same as the one on ALFA's live NWN1 servers.
You will need the pwc file. I've put a RAR'ed version up here:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... 2_test.rar
You'll want to right-click and "save as" - if it's not recognised as a RAR, then you'll have to make sure your browser isn't tacking a ".htm" onto the end. (or download firefox and stop using Internet Explorer!).
Good (bug) hunting, make sure to post feedback in the beta forum here:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpbbforum/ ... .php?f=218
Finally, to be clear- credit for the OAS build goes entirely to Teric and his team, I've had approximately zero contributions to the build aside from temporarily hosting it. Feel free to pass along positive feedback his way along with the inevitable bug reports.

Allright, we're on the new (hopefully more reliable) database now. However I'll be bringing the OAS2 beta module down in 2 hours or so (for ~5 hours) to accomodate the scheduled campaign session on North Underdark (which shares a processor core with the OAS2 at the moment).
Previous persistency data like last known location, quest statu and rest time will have been reset by this change. On the brighter side, now that it is it's own schema, we should be able to back it up from here on out.

In my experience, it says this when you don't have the appropriate haks/pwc or the correct name for them.dergon darkhelm wrote:Getting a bit closer----
this time it at least started loading the area then gave

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Ahh, well spotted. Your cliff notes version of NWN2 join errors for alfa:
1. Server is timing out. (could be lag, module still loading, or firewall connection problems on your end, or on the server's end.)
2. Missing required hak: alfa_acr.hak (eg) - hit up the downloads section of the website and fill in the gaps. Gotta catch em all!
3. There was an error loading the module. (usually means you're missing the pwc file, or have an outdated/mismatched PWC file. Each server will have one, and they will change with walkmesh-affecting updates.)
4. You have been booted. (Database problem- the server isn't talking to our Central Persistency database, so it's not letting you log in. Hopefully these will be rare once we've settled into a good arrangement of resources.)
5. You log in, but the PC(s) you expect are missing. Most likely, the host wiped the serverside vault, and/or cleared the database. This may happen from time to time, just roll up a new test character. For now, none of our beta servers connect to a central character vault (as portalling/quarantine isn't a priority until we have more than 1 "Beta" stage server).
Hope this helps clear things up.

I got the PWC from http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/NWN2/OAS/ with no issues. Unpacked fine with WinRAR.
Logging on to OAS2 has gone without a hitch. Sad to say, I have as yet no bugs to report.
I believe no haks are required for OAS2.
