Moving

Post by HEEGZ »

Today we scheduled to close on our house May 23rd. I expect to be moving all that weekend and done moving by May 26th. I will have interruption in internet service at that time and unsure when it will return. Additionally, this coming weekend is my birthday (36) and I will have guests from out of town all weekend. So my DM coverage for the remainder of May is now uncertain as I go into full time packing/moving mode.

+1 to Twin Axes. Moving sucks and it's a great deal of effort, but when it's all said and done you're in a new place and ideally all the disorganization / stress resolves pretty quickly. Last move that I did or helped with, we found a good tip was renting uniform sized hard plastic boxes to pack virtually everything in. The idea of all identical (yet labelled) boxes was appealing, the idea of not buying such was appealing (whether expensive plastic totes or endless "assemble yourself" cardboard boxes), and the idea of "renting... means keep as long as you want if willing to pay, or unpack those bad boys asap so you don't incur additional charges" lit a fairly gentle fire under our asses.

Heegz is a fscking hero, an inspiration to everyone! You rock, man!
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

We own the new house now. I am posting this from the new wifi at the new place. Still getting my usual connection...

Now all I have to do is move in, which I hope to have done tomorrow, then I will be back in business. I'll probably be too tired to DM tomorrow night, but if I can't sleep I'll be online trying to unwind as usual. 8)
