money exchanger in corwell

Post by puny »

the money exchanger in corwell offers to give 20 platinum for 100 gp. isnt that raising the value of what you exchanges by.. is it 200%

10gp-1 pp? right?

just wondering, since im intrested in not walking around with actuall gold but to have it as items in a pchest. would be wonky to calculate etc with exchanging back if the value from the merchant isnt correct... and if it is correct 5gp-1pp just ignore this post and point and laugh at my cluelessness on irc or something

Likely written by an old school D&Der. That spent many years being accurate (like... from 1974 until 2001); currency is uncannily metric in current Forgotten Realms, where 10 gold = 1 plat.

That said-- if the item itself can't be exploited to make money, there's no harm in using it.

on a side note: none of the vendors take any of the money that you get after the exchange, so it is more of an RP item atm

There are tradegoods found in BG, honored for very high buyback by tradegoods only merchants in BG server... highest value for weight is bars of platinum at 500gp each. Tend to be able to sell those back for 490. There's also worst value for weight propositions like barrels of cheap beer. While these got donated to TSM's pallette too, maybe MS wants 'em. They are one solution for I guess socking away stuff that you don't want to get mugged in the wilds for, like by say, drow slavers or something.

Ideally this'd be the use for gems in ALFA, but that didn't work out so good (almost perfect placeholders for $), did it?

MS has the tradegoods in our pallete but no sellers. But yeah heavy stuff that is worth a lot is great burglar proofing. The platinum coins were indeed written by an old school DnDer....me! Just consider them half pieces, the Moonshaes are short on platinum. But such coins are more useful for carrying wealth around MS lightly.

I'm not buying the Euro entry into DnD :P
