Is that a reflection on the prevalence of PC backgrounds being largely disastrous, or in this case brutally tragic and orphan-making, rather than what might otherwise be described as normal? Maybe some players don't think that 'normal' can be a good foundation upon which to build a good (lesbian Elf pr0n) story; personally, I disagree and my PCs tend to come from a comparatively normal background for the setting.

I can understand why the crime scene in the above report was not touched in any way until Forensics had arrived -- any disturbance of the broken glass or the moving of a body could have thrown trajectory plotting out of whack -- and all reasonable measures seemed to have been taken. The only thing I might have said is that IR readings from a copper-chopper would have been too far away to detect another heat source under a cooling one, and in this case that proved to be so; an up close handheld unit of the kind that fire service crews use might have picked up something unusual sooner.
