A Letter to a friend

Post by boombrakh »

(Letter left at the Lady's Collage for Olaf)

Hello Olaf my friend,

I really hope that you are alive and well when i write this and that you will find your way back to Silverymoon. I can't stay here anymore so I will be leaving for Baldurs Gate in a few hours and then wherever fate takes me after that. I tried to keep strong and not let the shadows engulf me like you told me, but ever since I got thrown out on the streets, bleeding and unconscious, one foot on each side of life, I have felt the eyes of the people around me constantly watching, judging as if they feel I am an affront to all things good and just.

I really did like these people, I really did want to help. But right now, I think that the best I can do is get away from this place. The only good thing to come out of the past month has been you, but I doubt that as good as you are, I'll never be able to do what you have done. There is no place in the light for someone like me. There is no safety or comfort in the light, there is only pain. Silverymoon has taught me that much.

I fear for my soul, I fear that the past month has pushed me closer to the Lady of Loss than Father Erich ever managed to do. I don't know how long I can stay clear of both the darkness and the light, to walk between worlds. I fear that it is only a matter of time before she would reach for me and claim me as her own and I wont be strong enough to resist her.

If I falter and fall, I don't want to be close to anything that you care about, because there is power in my blood that I have long denied myself. I don't know how or why it's there, but the gnawing inside my mind has always been there. Sometimes, it forces itself to the surface and that's when bad things happen. I know how much you care for this place, I know how much the people mean to you and I would never want to put any of that in harms way.

I am sorry for everything. Truly.

Signed,
Bishop
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.
