Player times

Post by furtivefigure »

It's starting to wear me down that I always seem to miss out on any story arc progression and big events on the server. I figured this thread could be used to see around what hours people can be around to play, so we could possibly match up better and get some more regular times going. As it is now, I feel a certain lack of continuity and story progression with my PC - he keeps having to ask other PCs what happened in the last big event, when he really should have been in the middle of it if only my playing times were more congruent with the bulk of the BG playerbase.

So I'll go first: my main window for playing is around 7 PM - 1 AM GMT (that is 12 PM - 6 PM EST I think). I can occasionally be on both earlier and later, but somewhere in that timeframe is when I'm most likely to log on. With that in mind, are there any others with similar playing times?

I know one easy way to always make the DM events...
become a DM!

*waggles eyebrows suggestively*
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

I've much the same problem, though I suppose its easier to RP as to why Aiden isn't always out risking his neck at the slightest chance. I usually get on around 7pm PST, I think thats like -8 GMT? If there isn't too much for my PC to do I usually will log off after a few minutes, but I can generally stay on a few hours if need be, on weekends I can stay on pretty late.

Well, moot point now: Shallac is dead. Not surprisingly, since I actively tried killing him off, but in the end it was very sudden all the same. Advice: don't go into Cloakwood at night. :D

This is something I have encountered myself and, whilst I don't really mind sitting around RPing when I do have play times. There isn't really any DM coverage during my peak play time as I am GMT +9:30, I am usually up and out of the house during US/Euro Evening times or sleeping. And during my peak times, which is about 8:30pm, currently Midday GMT, only the few players are around.

I do appreciate that DM's are only available when they are awake and free, so I am not griping. I just wonder if there is Euro Day coverage, or any DMs who are available that at time? And whilst, I would love to DM myself. Sort of defeats the purpose for Calum ;)

Hey Players,
We hear your cry and apologize. As of late we have been working with 3 DM's (as one is on a break). Ayergo & Heegz are hard at work in expanding the BG server; as much is still needed in both the city and wilderness. We do have one Euro DM who will be on more frequently in a few weeks and we are always looking for more. I am on usually from 4 or 5 pm (central -6) to about 10pm.

Once we get the server expanded a bit, I promise you that the DM's will more actively be on the server. For now though, we ask for your patience and thank you for complying with us.

On seperate note:
Shallac is dead

That makes me sad. I enjoy ruthless Swords for Hire and enjoyed Shallac the character. Hope your next one is just as cool.

I'm a bit of a mess when it comes to gaming time...I'm usually on during euro times and then american times later on in the evening.

I'd consider dm'ing, but it would mean dropping my character, which is a pain :)

Incidently, I join in on the chorus of sadness about shellac's passing.

Soon we'll have real graphs to see exactly what the playtimes vs dmtimes look like. We're almost done.

Thank you, it's nice to know he made some kind of impression. I'm only realizing now how much I liked playing Shallac. I think he had more unexplored depth than any character of mine in recent memory. Feels a bit like I've lost a good friend. :/

But on a more positive note: there are about a million character concepts I've been waiting to play. Now I can (well, one at a time anyway). :)

Oh, and by the way: Are creatures supposed to keep attacking even after getting a PC down below 0 hp?

Both of our new DMs are Euros. However, I haven't received a reply from CelestialLight in a couple of weeks, so not sure if he is okay or not. MATIN is away for the next few weeks, but should hopefully finish his DM client training in May sometime. Like BRM mentioned, I've been spending most of my time in the toolset instead of the DM client, in an effort to increase the number of areas in the server.

If the Euros in here can organize a group and time of the week to play together, I will see about getting a few things going for you guys to do. I also pointed Xityar this way, so that should be 3-4 Euros...

Yep.

and also, what kind of group, I'm about to make a new charatcer and am open to suggestions.. what's the group connection what's needed to fit in?

And most importantly will ye euros be open to set regular playing hours? It'd go a looong way to improve... well improve lots of things

Most of my play times during the week are centered around GMT Midday to about GMT 3pm. Oceanic sucks. I'd apply to DM myself, but there'd need to be players around oceanic times to warrant a DM needed.
