Corrupt Terrain Tool menus

Post by Curmudgeon »

You folks have got me inspired to start checking out the NWN2 Toolset, but I've got an issue with the Terrain menus on my rig - when I open up the tab, I get a graphics mess therein, with text over text over buttons and everything all jumbled up. Running a Dell laptop, OS is Vista, graphics card is the Radeon Mobility 1400.

I've tried setting the toolset .exe to Win XP compatibility, played with changing screen resolutions & gfx settings. The terrain tools seem to work, when I can figure out where they are, but it's pretty annoying to try to deal with. I updated to 1.10 over the weekend - I'm pretty happy with the changes to game play, but the patch was no help with this issue. Any suggestions?

Though I don't think it could explain all the graphics abnormalities, are you opening a module with alfa's texture/terrain haks associated? If so, do you have copies of the terrain texture files placed in your NWN2Toolset folder? Without those copies (and the terrainmaterials.2da in the override folder)- the toolset won't know what to do with the custom textures.

Still wouldn't expect it would yield text over text on the mouseover or other such strangeness though.

I get the exact same thing and it's a pain in the ass. The only thing I see that's common to my setup is Vista. I'm running Ultimate on a C2D E6700 with an Nvidia 6800 (soon to be 8800gts) with the latest beta drivers and all Vista patches. It won't go away but when I ran the toolset on XP before I upgraded the chip, board and memory the problem didn't exist. Me thinks it be Vista somehow.

If someone finds a fix, I'd love to hear about it.

Nah, it's got nothing to do with any ALFA stuff or plugins. It happens even with a clean and patched install.

Just found this while searching: http://nwn2stuff.blogspot.com/2007/09/t ... vista.html

Suggests changing the desktop theme to "Windows Classic". I'll give it a shot when I get home...

Yup. That fixes it. Wonder how long it'll take Atari/Bioware to patch it? In the meantime, it's nice to see the Terrain windows clearly now.

Thanks :)
