RPXP and "the first player on/ alone"

This is mostly due to ALFA's long standing mentality of ever reworking server balancing to adjust to PGers and exploiters, which only really affects the honest player (especially the occasional player), who gets to spend more time in the high mortality zone of the lower levels. That mentality is what needs to change really.

That said AL's approach has been a reasonable one, expecially when concerning this. So unless things take a hard turn, I don't really see the scripts vanishing in the forseeable future.

As long as XP isn't earned by exploiting Scripts, Spawn AI or other means of cheating to get ahead then no, people shouldn't be concerned but the thread isn't really about that. Being on alone and interacting with the content is a perfectly fine way of earning RPXP.

I'm starting to notice that every time someone mentioned in a thread the term "AFK" or "RPXP", immediately a huge debate about exploiting scripts jumps into play. No one's talking about exploitation, hell, the guy seems like he just wants to know if he should be getting RPXP for being alone. If you got a problem with the system, bring up your own thread instead of hi-jacking every damn thread you see that mentions one of the two.

The guy has his answer -- interact as normally you would, just don't keep your eye on the timer to take advantage of a system. That's all you have to say, folks.

Aren't we getting testy. The thread starter was concerned about the possibility of getting into trouble earning RPXP while on alone and it was explained that there's only one scenario that comes to mind where it would be a concern. Simply put, I answered his question as did others.

If you've got an issue regarding RPXP I suggest you start your own thread instead of going after anyone who dares speak it's name in threads referring to it.

You answered his question, yes... and then repeated that answer a couple more times.

I've no problem with RPXP. You've responded three times (perhaps more, it's not scrolling down fully on topic review) on this thread exclaiming exploitation. I've heard of reinforcing an idea, but there's only so much you can do by constantly hounding a single thread. Then again, you did a lovely job of derailing Rick7475's AFK thread alongside Mulu about, not surprisingly, the exact same thing (exploitation!). Instead of waiting for others to post about it and then jumping down their throats, make your own thread.

You would have to stay on all day every day for 24 hours for somthing like a week while typing stuff every now and then just to level using said explotitive methods.

No self serving Powergamer would waste that sort of time when they could be farming spawns for twice the XP value/time spend.

It is not a viable exploiting process, it simply gives somthing back to players doing the thankless task of roleplaying to an empty area.

I don't see a debate here about exploiting... I see very clearcut responses saying what IS exploiting and what ISN'T exploiting... and I think I'm seeing a consensus on those issues... all of it kind of helps DDs question, I think... all on-topic...

Kate seemed to be supportive at the beginning by saying Dergon looks like he's in the clear...

Then she said, "you're right'" to someone and said, "Yeah, exploiting is possible, but looks like AL's got a handle on that. Anyway, Dergon looks like he is in the clear."

Then she said, "As long as people aren't cheating, it's all good. Looks like Dergon is in the clear."

Then... out of the blue, you went off!

I don't see where she went 'exclaiming' exploitation. She made a statement (hardly an offensive one), someone responded, she clarified, someone responded, she clarified... that's kinda sorta what goes on in... you know... forum threads...

I don't know what happened in the Rick and/or Mulu posts... but I don't see anything untoward going on here except your flailing.

Maybe I'm just missing something...?

Magile's just being overly sensitive about the subject of RPXP for some reason and is reaching in the forums when he isn't spamming IRC with curse laden rants about those he dislikes. Whatever floats your boat. I thought the thread was quite agreeable and social and AL made his points that supported what everyone was saying to the thread starter. There's no problem being first on and earning RPXP.

Actually, these days it's more Burt and I making fun of those who log everything in chat and think it's "srs business." Lurk moar.

edit: Oh, and I guess I occasional have a bout with Jayde about something or other, but that doesn't last long and I tend to just forget about it and end up asking him random questions later on.

edit-edit: Sometimes I also discuss the latest people PGing and exploiting, but that goes along with the whole "srs business" section I spoke about.

edit-edit-edit: There are also those moments where I discussed my computer not working effectively, or just discuss whatever the current topic is in general. Laugh at the forums and posts in threads, or report my latest findings of problems to AcadiusLost and await him to tell me when the test server is up so I can help with the bugs.

edit-edit-edit-edit: Then there's those genuine moments that happen more often than anything else where I'm, y'know, chatting with folks and enjoying my time in the program.
