Technically, it is a "Republican" court in the sense that the majority of members, including the Chief Justice who authored the majority opinion in the same-sex marriage decision, are in fact, Republicans. And every now and then, they have to be re-elected to their positions (every 12 years I think).

It's legal in Nebraska. I saw it on telly. Oprah I think. Maybe Jerry Springer. The guy's children from his first marriage (to a human) didn't fully support him, though. Poor guy. You could tell he loved that pony.Mikayla wrote:Yes Val, there are people who love [...] horses [...] in inappropriate ways. Has anyone noticed that Mr. Sulu is getting married too?
As ever, the sort of small-minded, vicious stupidity required to oppose gay marriage is at heart deeply, deeply unchristian.
In the words of Roy Zimmerman, singing about the hypocrisy of Ted Haggard (at 1 min 40 seconds or so):
What does Leviticus have to say?
Yeah what does it say about being gay?
To lie with men is an abomination
like cursing your parents
trimming your beard
planting wheat and barley in the same furrow
eating pork
wearing polyester
and masturbation.
And what did Jesus have to say?
Yeah what did he say about being gay?
Well - nothing.
I was an usher at a friend's civil ceremony in the UK, and by some distance the most memorable thing the priest who conducted that service said was:
"If the church can bless a ship - and it can - why should it not bless two people who are in love?"

Roy Zimmerman. Yeah. . .
. . .That convinced me.
It must be overturned immediatly. Rally the troops fellas we must appeal to our elected officials.
You democrats are 100% backwards its frightening. Don't worry though, it will always take a Repbulican to do the right thing. All of you aspies will have to retreat back to your collective hug box and think of a new way to go about it.

That's right Jayde. Democrats don't do jackshit and republicans do stuff. You see, If Democrats didn't carry around empty briefcases all the time, things might be different and if Republicans listened things would also be different.

All I see are a lot of confused little kids growing up asking their moms and dads why Bob and John are holding hands and kissing each other in public. I sure as hell dont want my daughter seeing it. Kids are messed up bad enough nowdays and then they have these new images presented to them that its ok to be with the same sex. I dont think so. This country is going down the shitter so fast in the last 20 yrs. Ever since all the 60s flower children have grown up and esqewed all their "free love" horse shit on the world.
Whats really scary is if we ever get to a point where gay marriage is legal country wide your going to see a really bad backlash toward the gay community from the white extremists and hate mongers. I imagine a lot of hate crimes will go through the roof and thats going to be a real tragedy. I may never ever agree with gay marriage but I would never take things to their extreme but we all know its going to happen from those groups.
Anyway, we shall see if it gets overturned. Its going to divide this country I know that, though.

Just tell your daughter whatever you'd tell her if she asked why Bob and Jill were kissing "in public", Dan. For instance, that they're in love.Danubus wrote:All I see are a lot of confused little kids growing up asking their moms and dads why Bob and John are holding hands and kissing each other in public.
I reckon if you asked the possible victims of this supposed surge in hate crime, they'd take the ability to get married and the risk. The US has a decent record of prosecuting the white extremists and hate-mongers for breaking the law - witness the consecutive life sentences given to the murderers of Matthew Shephard.Danubus wrote:Whats really scary is if we ever get to a point where gay marriage is legal country wide your going to see a really bad backlash toward the gay community from the white extremists and hate mongers.
