Daily Trumpet - Mystery Minstrel Minces Masked Magistrates

Post by ayergo »

A mysterious bard has been wandering different establishments singing a song critical of the local court and magistrate system. She is described as wearing all black, with black hair, and answering to the name Midnight. She is wanted by the watch for questioning and assumed armed and dangerous. Her ballad was caught by one of our reporters:

SINS OF THE CITY
Waterdeep, Waterdeep city of Splendour,
Why do you hide beneath lies and deceit?
Your pride now will cost, until you surrender,
Admit your wrongdoing and wash the Gods Feet.

The planes have now splintered and demons abound,
they spill to the street, through portals unstable
Cause Lords chose to erase the truth so profound
Buried or burned as a discredited fable.

Temple agreed that the truth could not be
Took a oath false, with their bound hand,
Proclaimed that the fool spoke but heresy,
Demanded that all the words now be banned.

Heavens forbid they could have been wrong
The people now suffer and cry out in pain
Whiles the hells grow closer with each day's dawn
Because of stubborn pride, all in vain.

Darkness is coming if they do not repent
The Sins of the city will bury us all
Forgiveness is waiting or eternal torment
Choose now before the demonshade Ball.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

((sincere apology for hijacking this thread, ayergo, I did not mean to belittle in any way your actually quite impressive song above, but, as much as i DO slander Bards to no end, it's just the old ...old...very old... and weak stance I adopted as so many others did about old edition bards being so useless really, and I know that's because the majority of campains were combat oriented and less RP oriented, so in actual fact, I applaud those who play bards well...
I actually don't hate bards as much as I let on........ but i very much do hate gnomes... I think I could do a bard.. might actually be fun. Someday. Doubt it will happen. But maybe. People were telling me to split Willjo Tane with Bard a year ago on TSM just because I was posting Willjo's stupid dwarven chants in his IC journal thread... but not only bards can sing songs people!))

Gnomes are the popcorn of Faerun. I imagine most monsters eat them by the handful.

Sounds like an amateur.

Myfanwy. new to the big city, was nonplussed by this blatant display of lese majeste, or at least lese nobility. She read through the verse several times to make sure she wasn't missing something, lips moving slightly. She determined to see if Angus or Bran could explain what this was all about.
