Re: A slight annoyance
Ha... In all honesty nothing is more scary to me then speaking my mind to people I would love to get on with. I've tred carefully and said enough on it..
I'm honestly glad it's not just me (conspiracy thinking I can set aside now). I'm still trying to work out how to interact with people. I envy so much watching groups that get on, and want to be part of it but I never really managed it. In RL as much as online.

It's "possible" to wander aimlessly insofar as it's "possible" to automate any piece of software. I suspect that a person who's "really taking advantage of patrols" is a person who is taking on patrol quests, which exist on all of our servers and are typically repeatable, for the gold/XP they provide. The obvious exploits, like turning on autofollow on a random-walking NPC, have been disabled for a while.
Usually server designers set those up to make you walk by gathering places and/or choke points, assuming that you'll RP when you inevitably bump into others (or if they're not doing it on purpose, it tends to happen anyway; you have to actively try to scatter players to the winds to not have that happen). If we're not getting the effect (and it sounds like it's a pattern, now that it's many people saying something instead of just one person saying something), this seems to be cases of people breaking the rules and/or not following the spirit of the community.
If you're too shy to talk to them, or aren't willing to for whatever other reason, escalate to a person somehow above you. The PA and ARs are usually folk who negotiate and talk to people-- we've had some examples where that's not the case, but you usually know the first time they do a thing. Better than letting it turn toxic, and doing more damage to what's left of our community. Posts like this certainly won't improve anything. If the folk you're talking about are even reading it, they're surely assuming that someone else is the bad roleplayer. We're all the heroes of our own stories.

Re: A slight annoyance
social rules make it a bit tricky for me.
I can't talk to those above me, because well.. they are above me. DMs won't even talk directly about normal character/plot/game stuff when I try, let alone if I spoke of issues like that when they come up. If I accused another player of something I can't imagining it going too well for me in the long run. Ultimately I probably snapped a bit when I posted because it was the straw that broke my back when I try to interact and had such a situation.

Re: A slight annoyance
OT, I'm responding because I'd really like to see you engage with those of us still around in ways that are fun and healthy.
I like to think this isn't true for most people around here; people hold various positions/titles, including yourself when you were a DM. Does this make us all 'above' people and therefore unapproachable?? Just because there may be individuals who sometimes come off more heavy handed than others doesn't justify your attitude, which comes off as either passive aggressive pot shots or ... something that someone raised in one of the lower castes of certain cultures might say. I don't think that's your background..?
I'm responding because I'd really like to see you engage with others in productive and not destructive ways. We really don't need passive aggressive nonsense in ALFA right now; seriously, with the current numbers we have, we can and need to talk to each other and work things out like sane adults.
OT, if I didn't care/had given up on you I wouldn't bother posting this.
Come on, seriously, work with people if you're going to be around; shoot and hide vs orcs is great for Lunette ingame, but not so much for Orangetree the player towards ALFA's community, especially when some individuals are working very hard to keep the lights on and the kids fed/entertained.

This is definitely recipe for failure/frustration somewhere along the way.. Is this belief based on one of your social rules? Normally that's not how the rules should work on paper even in the deeply flawed social setting most of us live in, i.e. 21st century westernized culture.orangetree wrote:I can't talk to those above me, because well.. they are above me.

These are actually broad accusations aimed at more than one hardworking person who sacrifices time and energy towards DMing as well as fellow players, most of whom are trying to enjoy the game and not even remotely interested in oppressing you. Throwing out veiled general accusatory remarks like this and then retreating into 'oh i don't want to talk about it because it'll just make people mad, it won't go well for me, etc' - it's a pattern that undermines people's ability to relate and interact/solve problems with you.orangetree wrote:If I accused another player of something I can't imagining it going too well for me in the long run.
