Neverwinter Group

Post by HEEGZ »

This has been discussed a bit on IRC, and I'm going to kick things off here. We were talking about playing Neverwinter Online with fellow ALFAns. We could play permadeath style or at the very least with heavy RP around the quests and story line. i have really enjoyed playing the game with Kiyoti and would love to have a full group of RPers all playing together.

Is anyone else interested in this? I could set aside one night a week to play if we get a group together.

Im a big fan of MMOs in general, people have nudged me to try out this wierd new dndy project for a while. decide on a server (and fraction?) and i can test it out with you. I will on the other hand NOT rp, play perma death or anything ALFAy on a MMO. i can play with you when you want to farm, kill stuff, do quests and have MMO fun :p

Not sure if my system can handled a shiny new fangled MMO; I might enjoy kicking around with you guys occasionally on say DDO, or this if I can get it to run decently.

But I HATE the fact it's 4e.

Do you mean 4e Realms history? True enough, but the amount of Realmslore they've got packed in there is pretty impressive (if you're a saddo :) ).

We gonna coordinate the group any, or is forming groups blind part of the challenge? :3

Someone just needs to pick a server, I'm thinking an East Coast one maybe? I don't recall how they are organized and I haven't logged in to check them out yet. Maybe we can try for this Friday night and coordinate on IRC ?

[edit]
Just rolled up a new PC. Did not notice an option for servers? Anyways, I'll be happy to coordinate on IRC if anyone wants to give it a shot.

I think my name in game is:

I've got a tiefling rogue; guessing we should follow the opening quests until we're in something that looks like a regular city, and then join up?

Id like to make a ranger, but I think that costs money?

I played a little a while back, Zelk. The starting quests take about 15 minutes then youll be right in the main city so shouldnt be a problem meeting up. Im downloading the game now.

Neverwinter Online - There aren't multiple servers (shards they used to call them) they merged into one main.

Heero: Rangers have just recently been added to the game. They do not cost anything extra to play.

Ith: The 4e is not noticeable. It is a high magic game, AND it is an mmo. You need to keep that in mind. It is also very popular so there are plenty of non fantasy names on toons running all over the place. There are also all kinds of wacky mounts and companions. Just keep in mind that is just part of the game, it is different than NWN so just enjoy it as a different type of game.

RP - In these types of games RP tends to congregate in certain areas, in this case the Moonstone Mask. But it does not have to be limited to that, just group up go into party chat and RP anywhere. Better yet, make a guild (you get more bank storage space, plus guild chat, guild event scheduling etc) I recommend it, all you need is 5 ppl in party in same instance to form a guild.

I have 6 toons all of which I RP. There are RPers in this game, they may not be what you are used to seeing in Alfa, so give them some slack, but the developers have put plenty of things into the game to facilitate RPing. Including the Foundary, which you can use to create adventures and dungeon crawls etc to be played through by just your guild or by the whole player base if you choose.

my main is renny@bethsheba you need that full player name address to initially hook up in game. Once you add someone to your friendlist it is easier.

Cool, Maxcell, Ill send you a friend request in game. But dont fool yourself, its not really a 'friend' request...more like a frenemy request. Thats right, Im going to gossip about you behind your back whenever youre not around.

I've played DDO, so the MMO aspects I'm familiar with... but 4e is a totally different animal. I guess this means I have to go with an Eladrin Swordmage.  Ugh...

On a more serious note I doubt this thing will run well on my system.

Eh... I've prodded about the game. Seems to be less resource intensive than DDO. For what that's worth.
