Olympics
Not that I'm interested in sports, but I kind of had expected the Russians to kick more ass. Wouldn't they be doped to the high heavens for Putin's event at home? Maybe someone knowledgeable in these things could enlighten me.
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

They're waiting for Putin to compete in all the events.Veilan wrote:Not that I'm interested in sports, but I kind of had expected the Rusians to kick more ass. Wouldn't they be doped to the high heavens for Putin's event at home? Maybe someone knowledgeable in these things could enlighten me.

even taste good with gravy and CURDS
Re: Olympics
I think the real question is why Germany is doing so well. Google tells me they have the most gold medals right now. Surely they should instead be overstuffed with sausage, drinking beer, and doing the sorts of sexy things that make the rest of the western world turn away in shocked disgust first-- and then post videos of themselves trying to watch it to youtube.
Re: Olympics
Germany is indeed leading the number of gold medals, ahead of Switzerland of all countries
Tied in fourth place is Netherland, the US, and Norway. Sweden is only at a measly 13th place. If we're looking at the total number of medals, then we have the Russian bear at 14 medals, just barely in the lead ahead of Netherland, the US and Norway in a tie at 13. After them comes Ze German! with 12, followed by Canada with 11 and then Sweden at 7th place with 8 medals.

Re: Olympics
Clearly number of goldmedals is all that matters. Who wants to count the first and second losers. Germany doing well in winter games is not a new trend and not really suprising. Its fairly popular, so more money in it for atheletes, high gdp per capita, lots of people and double historic trauma with being ill prepared for winter in russia.
Re: Olympics
Like any good megalomanic he dragged alot of other people with him to his doom, in Napoleons case 150thousand "german" soldiers got volunteered for a vaction in russia. Anyways I got no real good exploration where the german obsession and success with winter sport comes from. Must be all those silly almost austrians near the alps:-)
Re: Olympics
The Olympics are a joke now that we're all cyborgs.
"So Mom, Dad... about that gold those guys brought me when I was a baby. You remember that GOLD, right?" - Jesus
Re: Olympics
The Olympics are a joke as long as they are held in Russia.
