These orcs will trouble the roads no more. And we killed a damned wyvern that swooped down on us for extra measure!"

Word around The Angler's Inn has that at least one human adventurer disappeared after tracking the retreated orcs into a cave north of High Hold. A dwarf also received severe wounds but was said to be seeking stout warriors to both drive out the orcs and recover any missing humans before they end up in orcish cookpots.

Wearing an uncharacteristic fretful look, the town sculptor Alis Rockhold has been inquiring after adventurers who are willing to brave the notorious caves northwest from High Hold. Only moments ago she stopped in at the Inn to spread the word.

"I feared that a man I sent in there nearly a tenday ago had fallen to the hated humanoids. It would not be the first time those caves claimed a life, but this man..."

Alis does not finish her thought, but composes herself and continues.

"I asked a well mannered dwarf named Kargund if he would be willing to organize a group to investigate, to which he agreed. But earlier today I spoke with one of the sentries by the bridge, who informed me he saw a lone dwarf venturing towards the cave alone! So far it seems none have seen the dwarf return, and once more I fear the worst, given the recent increased activity near the caves."

"Will no one look into this matter? It weighs heavily on my heart now... please, put the word out that High Hold seeks a band of hardy souls!"

A halfling arrives in Silverymoon.

She wonders around as if not quite knowing what she's done or where she's been, clad in strange white robe and barefoot under escort by a band of dwarves. Around her neck is some strange jewellery. She looks to have had quite a rough journey on her own. Some might notice a mask she carries.

After buying some basic equipment and some scrolls using Anhurian gold, she looks around to see if anyone has bought or sold a large cache of magical items recently. She is also looking for an expert in magical artefacts.

She also thanks the Shining Scroll for their generosity and lets people know of their various wares on offer...

With his ears always open for new work and rumors of trouble Boz learns of the missing dwarf. Bozwell will lend his aid and that of any Knights Draconis that care to assemble. He prays they are not to late and keeps his hopes up of finding his kinsman alive.

Upon hearing of the lone dwarf who ventured out ... alone ... Layla rolls her eyes and orders another ale.

Two yokels are overheard in the Bright Blade Brandished (and similar can be heard taverns all over the region).

"Shit, Marl, have you heard? King of the Ring qualifiers, man, being held in Rauvenwatch keep and the right here in the Gem!" the yokel says with glee and excitement, punctuating his message by waving his mug around and spilling a little ale.

"Aww yeah, this is going to kick ass!" the other yokel whoops.

The original yokel sets down his mug with a thud "Shit yeah, hey, don't mention this to the missus, eh? Or she'll be locking up the copper til its over, and i'll never get to bet"

"Hah, no worries man, no worries."

The hills no longer echo to the sound of gnoll howls.

(Encounter has been encountered and countered)

"Bugger dem gnolls, they gots cut up badly. Seen'em body parts floatin' downriver."

"Which I heard a mad invisbile ranger dunnit, all quiet-like."

"Think a knight did it. Not one of them gate-guard coves, but one of them knight-order folks, with eyes like steel. Moonsilver, or what's it called."

"Bugger that. Knights this far from the Gem just means Auntie Alu's gonna raise more bloody fookin taxes on us, mark me words..."

Panic spreads down to Rivermoot as the remnants of the pack of ThreeFang have taken their revenge on the Fort in FourthPeak, over-running it, driving off the guards.

The Marshall is quick to offer Eight Hundred Gold coins to adventurers if they can clear the Fort.

((NPC spawns turned off, Encounter placed suitbale for low to mid levelled group))

Bjorn rises from his table at the tavern in High Hold at the news, drawing his huge axe. "The Fort overrun by dogmen! TO GLORY!" The large Northerner strides out laughing.

A tall, slender, hooded female walks into Rivermoot's inn. Her cloak, boots and leathers are splattered with drying blood, bits of gore stained yellowish hair, and the grime of a long walk through difficult terrain. Pulling back her hood, she reveals an equally blood spattered face to the barkeep.

"I need a bath." She says flatly, understating the obvious. "And a room." She unslings the nearly empty quiver from her shoulder, shaking her head at the two shafts left in it. "And wine. A bottle. Maybe two."

As Layla walks through the inn, she can be heard muttering curses about suicidal dwarves, the desecration of Fourth Peak, and vampire gnolls.

A dark figure of a halfling is struggling to work out the divination class... it is rumoured she had used two very expensive scrolls to no avail... admitting defeat, she now asks for any arcanist to offer her a hint, or help, knowing even that is a shot in the dark.
