Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Rumors begin to fly around Iron Keep on Oman's Isle... of a deadly group of two Ffolk and a dozen halflings who gave a local troublemaker quite the thrashing recently before departing for Graystaad.
Some even say a ferocious feline was involved; indeed, a man is rumored to have been going about covered with cuts and bruises, with a welt the size of a melon on his head. When asked about the incident, he pulls back part of his jerkin to show a rather nasty scratch, claiming the group loosed a 'small tiger' on him, as he grumbles about how unfair a fight it was that they started. Not many people seem inclined to believe him however.
On an apparently unrelated note, one of the locals has been heard complaining about his missing puss.

It’s not the critic who counts...The credit belongs to the man who actually is in the arena, who strives violently, who errs and comes up short again and again...who if he wins, knows the triumph of high achievement, but who if he fails, fails while daring greatly.-T. Roosevelt

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Rumors begin to circulate around Alaron that a Llewyrr or two have been 'coming out of the woodwork' to inquire about participating in the Greengrass festival, particularly the Mage Duel.
Not a few people speculate that they have ulterior motives, to spy out key settlements and defenses of the Isles.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
((Is there a DM "in charge" of this event? As in who should I possibly contact about "stuff" revolving around this event, or are all DMs involved? Also, how far through the (ALFA) realm has word traveled about this Festival, or is it long time common knowledge that "about this annual time" the Greengrass Festival occurs, so everyone just kind of knows about it?
Thank you in advance very much for any and all help/answers to the above, long live Greengrass!))

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
((I would assume that major settlements in regions represented by every server in ALFA have their own Greengrass festivals, as it's a Faerun-wide thing. It just so happens that last year, a lot of adventurer types from various places happened to decide to experience Greengrass in MS... perhaps it's become rather fashionable in ALFA's vision of the Realms, maybe kind of like traveling to Time Square to experience New Year's Eve? "You can't beat the combination of Moonshae Isles, Lowhill brews, and Greengrass! Best place to celebrate it in western Faerun if you've the means to travel!"))
On another note... rumors already begin to spread in Rauthym Haven that Hans and Franz, the two burly guards that usually guard Rauthym Hall, have had their posteriors handed to them single handedly by a fierce, pint sized visitor to the Isle.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Talk circulates of a blue fang-toothed frogman, with tiny vestigial wings, having taken to travel through the Fens of the Fallen-- spotted many times in partial silhouette during the night. Though many respond to this as exaggerations and drunkeness, those witnessing insist, and speak of a horrible death-croak that may have killed a peasant man whose name can never seem to be produced during the tellings.
All the same, there does seem to be unusual activity around the old fort in the fens lately. Stones are being stacked properly again, trees nearby felled and dragged off in the night, and firbolgs seeming to gather supplies for more than their immediate needs.
(( Encounter is set, CR is 8-10ish, depending on the exact party makeup. Bring your friends. Because it's at the higher end and I don't want to break peoples' wealth, loot is mostly tokens that I'll have to exchange at a later date. ))

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
An overly-groomed square-jawed blonde man calling himself "Darv Buckman" relates a tale among villages on Gwynneth. He seems to have hired minstrels to attend him on his journeys and routinely speaks of exploits had about, or listening to his minstrels sing of them.
People seem unsure of how to react. The obvious effort to build some kind of reputation is often whispered as greasy, and rumors follow that he has lost an uncommon quantity of companions in his bloody romps, but some note that he has returned from adventures with the heads of these whispered-of frogmen.
Most conversations end by just dubbing him another overstuffed adventurer, glad only that they're not being actively exploited by this one for the moment.
(( Easter eggs are about-- Darv may have left some messes, and those messes might contain loot. Or hazards. Or both. Or loot that looks like a hazard. Or a hazard that looks like loot. CRs range from 1 to 10, so move with caution and use your best judgment before picking any fights. ))

*In the late hours of the evening, shortly after that a ship from the northen isles arives to the harbour of Corwell a small, travel weary looking hafling, clutching a lute to her chest as if it was the only thing keeping her afloat on a wild sea. She knocks on one of the small fishers cabins close to the market of the town. mr Nort? mr Nort are you there? *she calls out and knocks again befor standing back* I.. i bring news about your son.. *she ads with a thin voice*
Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Much mirth and merriment and marriages have been had at the greengrass festival.
One hin in particular drew noteriety to himself by streaking during the archery event. The same muscular hin was also seen winning his second wrestling match against the human Tempite Olin Redcloak, after losing his first.
Who was this mysterious shirtless (and sometimes trouserless) hin, and where did he come from? Few people care to ask.

There has been rumors of a mermaid swimming with dolphins. Sailors swear she is the most exquisite creature they have ever laid eyes upon.

...in response to the rumor above, if asked, Bu discredits it as just false visions from drunken sailors and to ignore further impossible and fantastical claims...

...the people of Corwell, vendors, inn owners, street guards and clergy, including Newander of the Corwell Grove all who knew Bu years ago, since he's returned, have notice he is far more reclusive than even he normally was years back... mumbling to himself in corners of Trapper's Hold or at campfires on the outskirts of towns, or near the docks, words of 'plans'... 'missions'... and 'a gathering'.... he is entirely unresponsive if interupted or questioned....
He is also seen purchasing strange materials and spending days in the wilds, returning with large sacks of mysterious things, or heavily laden and stained with dark liquids...

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Strange drawn out and barely audible echoing sounds... deep and low toned, are rarely heard from the very far away south west of Corwell town, sourced roughly from out to sea...
...also very rarely, the people of Corwell town or Cantrevs near Corwell, might feel very slight or subtle tremors underfoot... as if from a distant dying earthquake deep under the surface that had finally settled...

Out of curiosity, a halfling watches from the peer, looking concerned, watching over the horizon and listening to whatever rumour she can.
