I giggle with glee at this.

And I blame classical times. Them Greeks and Romans making sexy cuirasses for their rich generals.

You females will wear your platemail bikinis and youll like it.

Now if youll excuse me, I will leave you women to your gossip as I retreat in the study with the other gentlemen.

While boob shaped fantasy armour is dumb, I'm not sure practicality is the best complaint to level against it. When has fantasy armour ever been in any way practical?

Well, it's also not exactly even. Try to find the male equivalent of cleavage plate in custom content.

Well... here is a way to make it functional. (Can't believe I'm linking this...)

I rather like the earlier concepts. The creators of this show are dnd fans. ;)

My point is that alongside things like chainmail bikinis or gigantic oversized spiked pauldrons, "This would actually deflect force into the sternum" doesn't rank very highly on the visibly impractical scale of fantasy armour. At least in my opinion.

It's still dumb though.

I dunno-- it looks about as silly as a wagon with square wheels to me (but sure, at least the square-wheeled wagon isn't made of woven straw, with the argument that you could totally effectively load it with bricks).

I was also hoping that you'd answer with a link to male plate armor styled like chaps or something. I said to myself, "If anyone has that link, it'll be Xanthea."

//edit-- and I would totally add such armor, and provide standard templates of it as "light armor." I bet Paazin and Castano would put that in shops, too.

Fantasy world, not overly bothered by it. But then, I guess I have a healthy appreciation for breasts and rarely play characters that wear heavy armor.

I do love that we have some sort of armor that exposes mid-drift though. Can we secretly make that provide no AC?

Armor that makes no sense (aka, fantasy armor) confuses and infuriates me!

I've seen a sort of leather harness thing in nwn2 that leave the chest mostly bare with a sort of leather disc thing in the middle of the chest? Sort of the male equivalent of bikini chainmail, I suppose.

I don't think that claims to be armor? I suppose we could ironically call it that, though, for it equals in absurdity.

Also, I lol mightily at the giant codpiece. It is very near a comparison! If there were a "window" of bare skin above the privates but below the navel, I'd call it a fair and equal treatment of fantasy armor for men.

I agree it's still.. but I will point to two things..

1. SSM already found a good image of a stylish curvy armor for a woman that looks like it would be practical.

The armor on that picture showed a lot of cleavage originally. I had to have Uniskorne edit it out and recolor it for armor due to my hate.
