Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Small handwritten parchment posters have been placed around Callidyrr upon notice boards and other public places. While some where no doubt removed in disgust by concerned citizens, the remainder read as follows...
Dear citizens of Callidyrr,
My name is Merse Long'us. I extend an open invitation to any and all to come and learn of the wonders of spellcraft. Bring your questions, and I will bring your answers in a completely safe and welcoming manner!
Children welcome.
Small (and completely safe) displays of spellcraft will be performed by request at no charge.
Healing of minor wounds by the responsible power of Azuth also by request at no charge.
Please ask for Merse Long'us at the Council of Mages.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
At one such poster board excited children and parents are shoved aside by an enormous demon...strangely wearing a Northmans shape... with skin blacker than pitch and eyes with inverted colours.
As the children run away screaming he spits to the side and mutters in illusk, black teeth and bluish gums showing.
"There be nothing 'safe' about it Merse y' bloody fool"
He grimaces as the guards come running from the direction of the fleeing families.
"Nine hells.......not again!" he rubs his wrists where the tears of recent manacles can be seen and turns towards the oncoming guards.
Citizens may have noted similar instances of a similarly described black monster of a man(?) and guards clashing over the last few days in other parts of the city.

Hot on the Bears heals were five howling mad women, who slew the great beast. A few of the villagers breathed their final moments in the chaos, though it is unclear whom killed them, the bear, or its persuers. What is known is that before the bear died, it took two of its persuers with it. Curiously enough, three hin, two humans and an elf were seen walking about after the battle, and as the townfolk one by one peered out their windows and unbolted their doors to stick their heads out, it could be seen that the other three women were also, dead. The names Malar and Selune were whispered quietly, as the townsfolk began to repair the enourmous front gates, bury their dead, and set to torch the five bodies of the women, whose heads were neatly tied by their hair to one of the human's belts. It is whispered that a bronzed, tall as a tree man, whose body was taken away and buried honorably, might have been the bear...

Visitors to the keep of Drake Veneshuel will notice a consistent look has been applied to his guardsmen. The range of his patrols have also slightly increased to cover the ruins directly east of his keep.

Word out of Ruathym a very rich man is buying up ten wives from the Northmen Village. The local temple is officiating the purchase and is offering 50 gold a head for unwanted daughters who are wholesome of body. Many family heads are eager to cash in on this rich man's desires to bring honor to himself though there are excited grumbles that their may be a ritual fight to cement the deal.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
*over the night, missives have come in describing a horrible earthquake effecting the area around the Castle of Skulls.
Several cracks in the ground are crumbling the castle's rear walls as it already leans precariously over the sea.
The local town criers declare that the council at Caer Corwell has declared the area "CONDEMNED" on advice of scouts who declared the contents of the castle are no longer just undead. They warn anyone found in the area will be jailed for their lack of sense (as if was not enough, very few adventurers ever return from already.)
A concerted effort of Chaunteans, Tyrians, and Tempites is being organized to deal with this issue in the near future so rest assured, as long as the Ffolk stay away, all will be well.*

Depression begins to set in around the Koart area. Recent earthquakes and raids have set the town on edge, and last night several fields were salted and farm equipment destroyed by unknown vandals.

Continuing food shortages are starting to really hit home among the ffolk. All the isles are affected, with Gwynneth being hit the worst. Rumours of people eating pets in Corwell are spreading as the price of bread sky rockets.
In other news, outlander preachers appear to have descended on the isles, dark figures drifting in and out of town, spreading word of their gods. Ffolk have been known to chase them off, sometimes violently, but rumours persist that occasionally they seem to draw a crowd.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
A bard not of the isles has been doggedly playing a new song across taverns and marketplaces across Gwyneth and Alaron. The song proves popular in certain areas and some bards have taken the time to learn it. The song seems designed to stir patriotism and and love for the earthmother. Most Ffolk dont know all the words to the full sixteen verse song, but a few key phrases remain popular and may be heard shouted out if a bard has stirred up the crowd.
We are the Ffolk, and we like it loud!
We are the folk, and this makes us proud!
We are the Ffolk!
And we are the land...
It is with Mother...
That we make our stand!

Taverns around Corwell and Skaug are abuzz with the news that buckaneer Richard Bladehand, formerly known as 'Red Dick', was captured and brought to rude frontier justice in the Dwarven town of Highhold.
He bears heavy scars on his cheeks and forehead, and it is rumored he is no longer quite the man he once was. Despite several duels to restore his reputation, the new nickname of 'No Dick Red' is becoming commonplace. He vows vengeance for those that wronged him.
In other news, the name of Hoar the Doombringer, the Lord of Three Thunders, is increasingly heard in the voices of commoners near Highhome.
