Why do you hate, so, ALFA? Isn't it better to love?

Remember, the OOC is key. The more you involve it, the better everything is.

Loving to hate is love.
In all earnesty, a discussion about clarification of rules and comfortable lines and what we want to do with a growing community is a good thing to have.
Cheers,

We love relatively believable characters and good storytelling while playing a DnD game.

Thusly just because ONE person is going a bit overboard (and in no way anywhere near players in Alfa who have never gotten strikes for severe long-term exploits of farming and the game engine according to the data I've been shown that details XP/Looting behavior since 2006 on NWN2 Alfa) we don't need to demand changes in policy and scripting.
Two years ago a player got a little too spawn farm happy in TSM. And you know what? The HDM dealt with it with the PA and they got a strike. Did they do it ever again? Nope. And it was over and we moved on.
The system works. We are too small to need sweeping changes when the PA can deal with this player by player. And we need accept when a ruling is made and move on, dropping all the emotional witch hunting, and let it go just like we all did for the last four or five players who had strikes.
Some folks are trying to reinvent the wheel I think. System were tried, we have been using this one for a long time with good results where others failed. Why change? O_o
Ey some folks play 10h a day, but damm... thats not the norm not even close. We seriously don't need more restrictions. Thanks.

People who play 10h a day should be gently coaxed towards a counselling service, not have their XP restricted.Keryn wrote: Ey some folks play 10h a day, but damm... thats not the norm not even close. We seriously don't need more restrictions. Thanks.

As someone who during stretches occasionally pulled 10 hour days in the past, I heartily agree with the above assessment.

Re: Leveling rates/ Highest Levels currently in ALFA/PrC's
Just because people have gotten used to a system, or that it worked before in a world that has evolved lots since, does not mean it is a good one. Some folks are trying to reinvent the wheel I think. System were tried, we have been using this one for a long time with good results where others failed.
The glaring hole in the system remains: We reward people who play bad RP by powergaming static content with 5 times the XP compared to those who take their time to leisurely do good RP. We reward "bad" behavior. And then when people respond to this reward by doing more and more, our vaunted system prescribes us coming down with the ban hammer of level stripping. How is that not a scitshophrenic system? Not to mention frustrating to those who admin it. "The louder you whisper the more candy you get, but if we notice and interpret you as shouting, we smack you!"
We need a system that stops rewarding for powergaming, and some XP gains cap seems to be the only workable way. Since powergaming is playing to maximize XP gained per time. The reason this has come up now, and not 4 years ago, is because the amount of static content available is hugely more.

How about we let people be adults and rule over their own lives?
Re: Leveling rates/ Highest Levels currently in ALFA/PrC's
People need rules lest anarchy reigns. Fairness isn’t a commonly occurring natural human trait; it needs to be cultivated through Society, i.e., code of laws. Yes, the in-game world of ALFA is not fair but the gaming mechanics that facilitate our interface with it need to be.Darkmystic wrote:How about we let people be adults and rule over their own lives?

I say eliminate the forums. That will fix a ton of problems.
