Yes that was a big "WTF" for me, but anytime you scream "WTF" at your TV aloud, it means it's fun watching it.

Far and away the best episode yet this season!! That whole conversation between Jaqen and Arya had me almost falling out of my chair I was leaned forward so much. And Brienne's reaction in Renly's tent was tremendous. This is the first episode that has really gotten me excited about season 2. :-D

And incase not everyone has seen this, this is hilarious:

A mix of annoyance and curiousity regarding a scene from episode 5...
Spoiler:
In the show, Arya has Jaqen kill the Tickler. But in the books, she has him kill someone different. In the books, Arya herself kills the Tickler in a rather memorable fashion much later in the story (book 3) so I'm curious how that later scene will be portrayed on the show.
Aside from that, loving it. Brienne's actress is fantatstic!!

OMG, a low-magic, permadeath epic fantasy persistent world! What's not to love!?
loulabelle wrote:They also really didn't need to make Joffrey as monstrous as they have... I know I was fine without the extra sadism they're throwing in.
Are you sure? In the book they had him...
Spoiler:
... impaling rabbits (or was it cats?) in the yard with a crossbow...
and laughing about it.

Probably a good idea not to get PETA riled up, so torturing a concubine seemed reasonable instead. I thought Joffrey was far more of a douchenheimer throughout the books, if that can be believed.

There are a ton of changes from the books in season two, and while I understand the need for them for pacing and budgetary reasons, some are a little disappointing. For example:
Spoiler:
- No Jojen Reed, nor his sister ... apparently replaced by Osha and Hodor?
- Littlefinger never met with Cat, nor Tywin during the war, iirc
- Littlefinger also never mouthed off to the Queen; he's much too clever for that
- Shae wasn't Sansa hand-maiden
- I really liked Rhakoro, and I'm sad they killed him off (i hear the actor had to leave). He played a decent role in Dany's progression and protection to come.
- Who is this Talisa person, and where is Jeyne Westerling?
- No one stole Dany's dragons (but I understand the need for drama in the East)
- Arya never was cupbearer to Tywin, and they never talked about family and strategy.
- We have yet to be introduced to ANY of Cat's family in Riverrun, who would have played a significant role by now
Minor gripes. The over-arching story-line remains true, but main character development (Bran, Cat, Arya) seems to be hindered by the elimination of ( in my opinion) very interesting supporting characters.

At least Ramsey is in, or so they've alluded to him soon to come (Roose Bolton's bastard son). That should be fun.

OMG

That is all.

(Actually not all, missed that comment directed at me... cruelty to people =/= cruelty to animals. Ramsay is the sadist imho, Joffrey is a cruel but cowardly little boy who is cruel to Sansa because she lets him. And I doubt it was to be nice to PETA.... they did show the Mountain That Rides beheading his horse in the tourney quite graphically!)

Spoiler for the people who saw up to episode 8 like me:
Spoiler:
Was I the only one to laugh when they did show Bran and Rickon the next episode they "killed" them ?

They couldn't risk loosing too many viewers :)
Spoiler for those who read all the books:
Spoiler:
I wonder how they'll manage the red wedding ?
They got to either have viewers not like too much Robb and Cat or undeadify Cat right away ?
I just hope they won't loose too many people.

Then later on will be Jon problem. A lot of people like him I expect...

Hialmar, (not to be clicked for people who haven't read books and want to)
Spoiler:
I also wonder how they're going to turn Arya into a coldblooded assassin when she was denied her first kill leaving Harrenhal... I assume Jaqen will give her the coin next week?
Also, I wonder if Tyrion will still kill Tywin and Shae next season, given how they are making him so likeable and generally goodly.
They haven't given Robb much of a personality so I think his death will be okay hehe

I just started watching the series and I must say I was wholly surprised: I expected to really fall in love and find it fascinating from all the glowing reviews.

What I found instead was little more than high-fantasy fluff that was literally painful for me to watch. :? Feh.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

High fantasy? This series is around the same level as Conan, but a little less.
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd

Second Character: Damien Collins, the atypical druid. "What? Being a stick in the mud is boring. No pun intended grins"

Just keep watching.

Also... watching without reading is silly.
