Prepare to be underwhelmed if you're looking for RP. If you're looking for a decent 3.5ish combat engine for combat and quests it's not bad; definitely a better looking game than nwn2 imo.

Good looking game, but somehow without soul; it just feels like a lobby for multiplayer dungeon hacks. I found it fun playing with a dozen or so friends as part of a 'mates only' guild but even then I could only stomach a couple of hours at a time. It's also rather expensive if you want to play the premium content; on the upside, the free content will provide ~10 hours of game.

To be fair, you -do- get more access to more content from herping and derping around on DDO, but yeah, it's the sneaky variety of "free" to play scheme (wherein all of the content is available for free, but it's a ridiculously-low net yield to actually try to grind your way to getting it for free).

Honestly it looks pretty awesome. Evenstar is in Cormyr right? Druid animal forms are beautiful. And the drow have a strange look of night elves with such nice flowy hair. For ten hours worth of play on a free MMO doesnt look to be a bad thing to enjoy.

Yes and it is about the only reason I would even try to level a character to enjoy the new content. If there is one lasting effect that ALFA has given me, it is an absolute love of Cormyr above all other regions.

Bah, I bet it doesn't even have Rivior's Keep .

In any case, I suppose I should patch my DDO huh... game never really struck my fancy. The idea is good - narrated, dungeon-craw-like stuff that you can actually roleplay as a party through without total breakdown of immersion - but by and large I found the game a little too hollow and the repetetiveness soon kills what little novelty there is.

Ah well, another look can't hurt.

I opened up my old free account and made an elf ranger on Khyber. Elrain (haha).
Be fun for downtimes and its nice to climb, swim, and jump again.
