The Witcher and ALFA

Post by ElCadaver »

Been playing The Witcher ($2.49 on steam). It says it uses the aurora engine. So, how hard would it be to import areas into NWN2 from the Witcher?

its graphics engine was totally rewritten. it does indeed use the aurora on the very base. But was massively updated with better graphics technologies. It also was using the nwn1 aurora engine.

I doubt it'd be overly doable to port it in... though if you could work out how, having some of the character models for npcs etc would be cool! (as would the witchers better trees - which are still speed tree i believe)

This.

The studio that made The Witcher was founded in 2002 and licensed the engine shortly after. The game did not come out until 2007. The engine itself had significant work done to it and the actual renderer was completely thrown out and written again from scratch. It is almost hard to still call it the Aurora Engine.

Does someone want to try?

Seems like worst case scenario here is "It doesn't work; we don't use 'em." And we'd find out after fussing with a couple models. The only thing that's missing is someone excited enough about the prospect to attempt.
