Feast of the Moon

Post by paazin »

People are beginning to put up festive wreaths and garlands as talk is that the Festival of the Moon is nigh. The common folk are beginning to recount legends and stories of ancestors and heroes long-passed, telling their (somewhat embellished) tales in preparation for the festival day. Clergy of Kelemvor and Tempus are particularly busy, preparing their halls for the influx of people in the soon-coming festival -- in fact no place is more decorated in all of Baldur's Gate than the usual spartan halls of The House of the Sharpened Axe, now filled with an almost constant crowd of street waifs, watching the comings and goings on, in preparation for the arriving feast-day.

(Officially with our calendar it's today, but we'll be doing celebrations of and on this weekend for it)
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

The hoarse, shouty and tuneless voice of Rhaggot the Penitent, has been heard to dreadfully emanate from the war-hall of the Foehammer's temple. Practice and learning of the Song of the Fallen and the Song of the Sword are leading to painful results. It is not anticipated Rhaggot needs much practice with the Feast of Heroes, a highsun staple of the worshippers of Lord of Battles. Perhaps refraining from watering one's wine at the great meal will sweeten the tunes to come later.

((Hope to find a few weekend minutes if there's any evening RP-eventy stuff...))

The young cleric woman, Jendari Telasa, who was reportedly at the battle against the Undead at Tempus' Tears and stayed there for a few weeks to help in reconstruction, has been seen spending a great deal of time at the House the last few days, assisting the Battle Chaplain and the Swordsmistress with various details of setting up decorations, and dealing with influx of visitors.

While the Battle-Chaplain is the one who runs the temple and oversees the day to day operations, Warrior-priestess Telasa has been mostly seen in the House's Tavern, called the Empty Scabbard, as well as in the training room mostly performing crowd control as the Chaplain prepared services and rituals in the main worshiphall. Additionally, she can be found running temple errends.

Reportedly, as the Feast of the Moon wound down, the House of the Sharpened Axe was quite busy indeed.

Many revelers visited the Empty Scabbard, the tavern inside the Temple to drink, socialize, and tell tales of warriors gone before, and acts of valor.

Many more spent time in the Training Hall there, sparring and testing their might. One very notable spar was between the two priestesses Persephone of Selune and Jendari of Tempus. A fight with no healing magic or enhancements allowed, apparently this battle was of nearly epic scope and lasted an exceptionally long time as the two heavily armored and armed women circled, sparred, and fought for an advantage.

Who won the battle varies with the account given, though many many folk witnessed the fight.

Adorned with more proud scars from one year to the next, Rhaggot has been haunting the training hall of late at the House of the Sharpened Axe, promising "good clash" to Tempusmen and allies who may wish to trade blows loud and proud enough to send them as prayer to great Tempus. The brute's armory-worth of axes are in a state of high polish, it's said that he's had counsel with the battle chaplain about charms and runes the half-orc is willing to try weaving into any temple champion's war-tools after it is shown to Rhaggot "who best, who got big worthy."

((OOC - no idea if anyone wants to get together "around" Nov 30th for some Feast of the Moon RP... whether somewhere extremely convenient like the Tempus temple in the BG docks (where NPCs can and do flip out if you spar in front of them), or somewhere less convenient like a so-far work in progress shrine way out in some boonies under nominal control of Sword's Edge and hirelings.))
