YEA!!! Not one person has come screaming into chat screaming hysterically 'OH MY GOD 3 PCS ARE DEAD!!' yet.
*grumble* That's imo at least partly because at mid/high lvls, NWN2 PC's are running around with double the HPs of NWN1 PCs. The worst are barbies like yours and fighters, getting nearly 5 extra HPs per lvl on average... ;)

Having said that, I do agree it shouldn't be impossibly hard to administer aid to an unconscious comrade if potions are distributed amongst the party. the NWN2 interface does make things tricky until you get used to it, and atm, the latest patch ai is overriding AL's hard work, causing monsters to go after downed PCs making it nearly impossible to help them before they hit -10 HPs.

Way back when this post began my point was that it is mechanically very difficult to help a fallen comrade. I've got no problem with PC's dying, I just don't think it should be with another PC standing over them trying to help while the fallen PC has healing potions in hand.

I recently tried to use a potion in my inventory on a fellow PC and still somehow managed to drink it instead of administer it  .

Really, I'd just like to see inventories opened up when PC's fall. I still haven't heard a plausible justification as to why inventories of unconscious PC's are locked up. I realize that opening them makes PC's susceptible to silly insta-looting of armour, etc., but to have a PC bleed out with a healing potion in hand with another PC leaning over him/her trying to help is ridiculous.

Admittedly transporting all inventory into a sack next to body is a bit of a stretch, but if it cannot be modified to be more realistic, it's still better than being locked up IMO.

My guess is that it's so clunky, and potentially laggy, and other tech issues might arise, that the HCR incarnation dosn't seem an appealing option. I'm sure given time and incentive, alfan's would prefer to come up with something that's more elegant and less problematic eventually. But that's yet another item to add to the list that never gets any smaller.

What some of the older (when I was an alfan waaay back in the day, young man!) members are saying isn't totally off though. People did deal with it for a long time, without too much problem, by using the approaches Dorn and others suggested. It's much easier with a DM on, of course.

I do think the 'blessed bandages' idea is a pretty good idea. Apparently it's standard issue for adventurers in pnp if the DM allows it, inexpensive (actually cheaper than the +2 heal skill ones we have currently), and seems a good compromise for a realtime format. I'm all for hardcore (as my posts in the brainstorming section indicate) but it is from PnP, and believe it or not, I'm fully aware that realtime online DnD has hazards like lag monsters which you don't deal with in tabletop. On the other hand, the default NWN 'heal kits' that do massive amounts of healing without even drawing aoo's... I'm pretty sure no one in ALFA would want to see those things (they are about as evil/unbalancing as max HPs imo but I digress...)

Just how often are low lvl PCs (which is what alfa features) going to make that DC 15 heal check anyway to stablize someone? Not often. What that translates into is that low lvls are even more fragile than higher lvls, and in this case, needlessly so.
