We've got quite a number of euro players. And then I DM a group of Aussies/Kiwis once a week. So yeah, there's certainly things happening outside of the US.
Play a fighter type chr first, untill you are familiar with the interface (easiest), and DO NOT use your bestest most favorite chr first, as they will die horribly mauled by a badger/rodent/bat, and you will get upset. I recommend using John Citizen untill you know how to survive.
The name "John Doe" is used as a placeholder name for a male party, in a legal action, case or discussion, whose true identity is either unknown or must be withheld for legal reasons.
Don't listen to him though, he doesn't know what he's talking about - he's Australian after all
The problem with playing a throw away character to begin with is if he ends up surviving... The part to take out of what ElC said is just don't have your heart set on any one PC - with Permadeath and low rez rates dying is a very real possibility.
Meanwhile - since i've only played the game locally , how the interaction with party in multiplayer environment is done?
how do you 'speak' with people and 'emote' ?

You'll probably want to ask a player or DM to show you the ropes your first few times. It is a bit steep learning curve if you've never done it before.

Possibly even of greater pressing import would be the absense of the "Pause Game" feature.
