Removing or minimizing many spell effects would be great. Especially around ATs or things such as bardic music.

This one reduces a few spells. http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... tail&id=12
And this one sounds pretty cool, though it doesn't remove anything : http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... tail&id=19

The AT-VFX is meant to let you know when a (non-stealthed) PC is coming through an AT, so you don't inadvertantly cross paths while they load the area. In other words, it's meant to be a "feature"; though we could switch it for a less obtrusive VFX if someone has a good recommendation.

I like the look of the lightsourcing VFX mod, might be a bear for performance/lag, but I think it would be clientside and manageable via video settings. Worth a look, certainly.

Generally, it's pretty easy to make spells have no VFX at all (we just name a blank VFX file to fit), it just makes it harder for the caster to know when it's worn off.

Am I the only one that enjoys spell visual effects? I know I was certainly disheartened why the nifty NWN2 Protection from Evil visual effect was changed to the less than satisfactory bubble, but it was still better than nothing to me.

I see, I had not realized that it was intended as a feature and now that you put it that way it makes sense.

I'm a middle ground man on this.

If these effects could cause lag then cut as many as possible.

If they don't I like the simplififcation approach rather than cut all together. I really didn;t like the flowerglobe Prot from Evil and prefer the globe (sorry Mag) and that is the sort of thing i like. Some recognition there's something at play, but not so we end up with a ball of light and cant see anything:)

Haks are higher rank than overrides. If you want to remove spell effects - I do, they are incredibly irritating - you need to overwrite the files in the alfa haks with the ones in the override.

While we are at it, is there any way of replacing the annoying faces of Helmites?? :P

I already do this mentally. For example, I always picture Rathalan with Jimmy Swaggert's face.

As for visual spell effects, I am for getting rid of all of them that should not logically be visual (e.g. light), especially if they are causing lag.

I would prefer to have effects match the aura per PHB....most of which are "none".

I have now had numerous RP incidents of "Oh....look how glowly you are!" etc for spells that should be only noticeable with Detect magic.

Although maybe not the highest priority for a fix, can we at least agree to not RP the auras as visible?

Hmmm ... actualy it might be cool to try to find a way to toggle the vfx on and off client side ... actualy make the detect magic spell do something ... wonder if theres any way of cobbing that together ...

I'm pretty sure those people were RPing the fact that Rathalan had the sun shining out of his ass...or at least was acting like it.

Cool swords, armour, men at your disposal and a grand temple to sleep in in the city with nice posh stuff to buy from the preist? :P
