Packing up the computers
I've come to the conclusion that it's not NWN that I'm tired of, it's computers. I've had 2 computers at home on the go since I was 17 (that's 20 years ago, when I was the proud owner of 2 x386's with dual floppy drives and 8MB of RAM) and I'm now finished with them (my 2 Core2Duo boxes with 4GB of RAM). I'm packing them up. I've got a laptop I use for work, and that be that.
I'll be completely useless to ALFA henceforth, but like Fionn I will probably enjoy the occasional visit.
If you want to know where I'll be instad of behind a desk, think garden. I'm already a frenzied gardener, but I want to up the ante. There are other considerations, like my creative needs (and those are kind of like drugs...without them I suffer withdrawal), but I will find ways besides computers to satisfy them. If I ever play D&D with my boy (and I really hope he wants to), it will be of the pen and paper variety.
My office at home is being turned over to my wife. It will become a spare bedroom.
I did want to ackowledge all of the people who've helped me regain my feet here...too many to list. I hope what I've put into TSM and Skullport (the mod is yours to do with as you will) in some way pays for some of my many mistakes.
This community though has embodied what I've loved about computers, D&D and campaign building...my 3 hobbies. It's been the best thing about my time spent using computers, and the community is what I'll best remember. And so this will be my last post from my office...I'm now going to pack up the computers.

Re: Packing up the computers
Wow
What a terrible loss for ALFA.
What a wonderful moment for your wife and boy....and self.
Thanks for everything that you've done to help make this place fun indio.
I hope that the garden is soon the envy of Jamie Durie and that your boy enjoys working on it with you more than hre might have enjoyed playing a computer game wioth you.
Best of luck with the new stage of your life!

Thanks for all you've done man. You really have been instrumental in getting NWN2 platform on a solid foundation for ALFA. Enjoy the family, and we'll see you when you stick your head in the door for breif visits! May your path be blessed and fruitful, and may plants bend to your whims!

Wow... a bold move.
Sometimes I would love to do exactly the same thing.
I can imagine that you're going to have one awesome garden.
Hope you drop in to say hi every now and then.

Re: Packing up the computers
thanks for everything. For those new folks who don't know yet, Indio built alot of the original mods like the first Baldur's Gate mod.
Make sure to plant some fruit trees & bushes & vines, raspberries work well as they do not have an intensive pruning schedule nd are worth quite a bit per pound.
If you are shade gardening red currants do well also beneath trees. make sure to get bird netting for the fruit trees and choose dwarf varieties where possible and where they fit w/ the design.

Re: Packing up the computers
ALFA loses one of the greats -- really some of the most beutiful building I have seen Indio, you will be missed. Enjoy the family, don't be a stranger, and fix the walkmesh and the floating rocks in the garden =P
Re: Packing up the computers
I don't believe it.
If it's true, best wishes in every endeavor and thank you for all you've contributed, though that seems inadequate. Otherwise, see you after your rest.

Bold move, I aplaud you on making such a huge life changing decision. As all have said, dont be a stranger, pop in from time to time to say hi, even if its to keep abreast of what we become into the future.
Good luck with the garden, i hope you bear fruit of the Dire variety, (i myself have grown button squash just over 1kg and zuch's over 2)
Most of all have fun.

I'm pretty sure It's supposed to be April 1., not December 1.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -- Richard Dawkins
