Re: Suggestions Thread
Here are a few suggestions:
Make the New Area Transition triggers smaller
Add more light in Baldurs Gate
Add npcs to the streets of Baldurs Gate
Change the prices somehow so when items are sold back it's not such a huge difference. An example: A chainmail is bought for 110 gold and will be bought back for 12 gold.

Re: Suggestions Thread
I don't recall seeing armored boots in the Armorer's shop inventory, so I'd ask for some of those to be put in, as well as Danielmn's dress boots that I read about in the update thread (in the appropriate shops, of course).
I only found the one "fishing hole" just before BG went live. Could we get a "Large Hollow Stump" pchest to put our gear in while we're diving, in case the server crashes after we've dumped everything but our spear and catch bag so we can get down to the 35lb weight limit permitted for swimming?

Re: Suggestions Thread
I just wanted to put my two cents worth in again and bring up the one thing I think may be lacking (but after watching a gnoll who's two buddies got mulched turn tail and try to run away, I'm no longer so sure): Morale scripts such as what we've got on TSM. Asside from that one gnoll, I've seen no signs of any other creature realising he was in over his head, even a lone mangy goblin faced with an irate Lemuel.

No, please, please do not add morale scripts. They are a pain in the ass to dm with(believe me, I know from TSM), and are a pain for players.

Re: Suggestions Thread
Couple of suggestions from what I've encountered thus far.
1. Npc commoners and whatnot around Baldurs gate and Beregost. They don't nessicarily have to move, or eat up cpu cycles with any thought process, It would just add to the feel if there was a bit more static life about both the 'Gate and Beregost.
2. Idea for a quest (repeatable) and a merchant of sorts for Beregost. Back in the original neverwinter nights version of Baldurs gate, when Beregost was the focus, there was a small shop in town that basically amounted to being a hunting lodge. The merchant focused on buying grizzly bits of critter and selling a few outdoors bits and pieces. This idea has several benefits :-
2a. It provides another static quest that people can possibly perform, hunting wolves for their pelts. IT would work by buying a specific knife from the tanner and then hunting for hostile wolves. Once you had killed them, and you have the knife in your inventory, they could drop a 'wolf pelt', which you could take back to the tanner and trade in for a gold reward (small, given that beregost isn't that big). Akin to herbal hunting, just slightly more combat.
2b. It provides a place where you would have the chance to offer specialist leather and bows for sale, or perhaps just masterwork. The current shops on the server cover alot of the goods someone could possibly need, but I don't see leathers or bows properly represented.
2c. Opens up the possibility of skinning other animals and selling the pelts for profit that isn't without danger.
3. Might not be popular with people, but here goes :- Even out the merchants in the baldurs gate market's buy/sell rate a bit so that they buy equipment for more than they do currently and engage in less daylight robbery. I know gold is supposed to be hard to come by, but it's a little out of whack when a perfectly serviceable battleaxe will get you one gold coin and then be sold for seventy to eighty. This would have the additional addage of making exploration a bit more profitable and worthwhile, expecially with the danger of spawns. Gold would still be hard to come by and you'd still be forced to save up a long time for anything worthwhile, it'd just offer another alternative for income and make hauling heavy crap back from the forests worthwhile
4. Add a new store in Baldurs gate that's basically a 'junk/pawn' store that has a merchant that buys absolutely everything under the sun, just for low low prices. It would give people the oppertunity to unload their unwanted junk without just trashing it and also offer another low return merchant if the others are taxed for gold.
5. For Lita, set it so she buys jewelery. Currently it doesn't make sense that she'll buy gems, but not rings and amulets, given that she sells them.
6. If it's not a TSM Specific idea, I'd love to see churches offer their faithful some kind of persistant storage, or something similar. Failing that, perhaps a specific merchant that offers a persistant chest that can be rented for a specific amount of gold per month. Having to carry absolutely everything you own into battle doesn't make sense when there are alternatives (or proposed ones
)
7. If possible, have a script that refreshes the merchants gold total in the stores every 3/4 IG days, so that a reset isn't required to refresh it. IE : Say Lita runs out of gold because everyone monopolizes her wallet...with the script, she'd be able to keep buying from players every few days and we wouldn't run into the situation we're getting now where it's 'first come, first serve, seconds are screwed'.
Well, we would, it'd just lessen the problem.
Thar's my list for now.

Ayergo doesn't want to add any more because they will eat up CPU cycles.Coaan wrote:1. Npc commoners and whatnot around Baldurs gate and Beregost. Any of those ideas would be fine... but in Baldur's Gate, which is the server hub. Beregost is just included because it is a canon locale and for the occasional visit.Coaan wrote:2. This has already been discussed heavily by the team. Merchants are working as intended.Coaan wrote:3. Ayergo will have to address this, as I'm unaware of the persistent storage model for BG.Coaan wrote:6. Not sure if this is just a meta-exploit, broken, or functioning as intended. I would guess the latter is true.Coaan wrote:7. Some of my replies may be incorrect, and hopefully Ayergo will notice and correct me. Thank you for your observations though, as many of them are good ideas. On a final note, if anyone is interested in helping toolset stuff for BG, or any of the other six NWN2 servers, then please contact me via PM.

Merchant repeatable quest: Excellent idea! Please submit the code to me for review.
Merchants: Some adjustments can be made there. Don't think anyone has yet found the pirate merchant who does offer better prices.
P-storage: I'd also like to have it in. I believe it is currently still busted though.

Re: Suggestions Thread
I figured The 'Gate was the hub
but a hunter-y type shop wouldn't really fit well in the city and it'd give people an occasional reason to visit Beregost past going there for the Thunderhammer smithy.
As for the quest idea, I can write up a summary of how the quest ought to go, but I fear I'm not a very good scripter. Willing to try, but it may be best to get someone that's actually competant to do it.

Its not too difficult to learn, and i bet you could use the existing structure that i have to work it in. Its unlikely to happen if you don't do it.Coaan wrote:I figured The 'Gate was the hubbut a hunter-y type shop wouldn't really fit well in the city and it'd give people an occasional reason to visit Beregost past going there for the Thunderhammer smithy.
