<Gebb> ok, what does it mean to be "huggled"? <spidroth_esq> Something terrible. <Squamatus> buggered <Dran> sodomised <Squamatus> by an acorn on a stick <tresca> LOL <Gebb> that didn't help <alynn>
Is there such a thing as a "monster race" anymore? I thought you could pretty much play anything.hollyfant wrote: So Ogres, Trolls and Goblinoids get to keep their Gods as do Orcs, Drow and Abominations. Where does that leave all the other monster races?

Yes, pretty much. It's the whole concept of "pantheons" that got axed really.Mulu wrote:Is there such a thing as a "monster race" anymore? I thought you could pretty much play anything.
Incidentally, Chauntea's realm is now called Green Fields, which used to be the name of the realm of the Halfling pantheon.
The new Campaign guide isn't exactly a fountain of facts, the whole thing reads like a "here's what you need to hit the ground running; we'll fill you in on the details later" sort of booklet. The last few pages of The Grand History of the Realms has better info.

do the 4ed Clerics still have required domains? (i.e. patheons) that'll be the key to see if they tossed all the old logic or simply reset the defaults as a escuse to reintruduce old logic/new wall paper?
there's still, law, chaos, good, evil, fire, water, air, earth, death, halflings, etc?

Well, Law and Chaos are right out, given that there are only five alignments left: Good, Lawful Good, Evil, Chaotic Evil and Neutral. I've no idea why they did that.
Domains in any guise are gone. D&D4 puts Clerics back in square one (or two, really): they'll all look alike, regardless of what god they worship. Same with the other classes, really.
Cookie cutter, anyone?

... ok, looking at what i've seen (glancing at the 4th Ed book at B & Kn, what's been discussed here and other forums), does that mean that the next modual coming out for NWN2 will likely be the last? is Obsidian gonna retool a new game for 4th ED? or will they drop the licence and let a third party produce a RPG game in 10 years for the NWN/FR/D&D concept?
What about eberron and DDO?
I really hate this sh*te...

Big thanks to indio, Lusipher, and McJoker for answering a big chunk of my assorted questions.
Personally, I'm pretty split on the new Forgotten Realms. There are things like the return of Abeir and Netheril and the fall of Thay that I think are great plot hooks and will really shake up the Realms. However, there are other aspects like the severe blow to the Pantheons, the loss of the Weave, and the ending of the Blood War that I don't like at all.
That combined with the some of the general rule changes that seemed to serve no other purpose than to dumb down a pretty straightforward system (like the new alignments) make me wary of the whole thing. I think it will be a while before I can embrace the new world in the same vein that I did the old.

NWN2 can have more expansions, this doesn't stop anything. However, all D&D games from here out will be 4E. So, a NWN3 would be using 4E rules instead. This is a good thing, since some of the 3.5 stuff is hard-coded; NWN3 will have to have a brand new engine. Many of NWN2's problems are because Atari wouldn't spring for a new engine, now they won't have a choice.PensivesWetness wrote:... ok, looking at what i've seen (glancing at the 4th Ed book at B & Kn, what's been discussed here and other forums), does that mean that the next modual coming out for NWN2 will likely be the last? is Obsidian gonna retool a new game for 4th ED? or will they drop the licence and let a third party produce a RPG game in 10 years for the NWN/FR/D&D concept?.
