Torn out throat...

Post by Dorn »

The barman watches the trader sit and in shaking hands rasies an ale to his lips below a pale and wild eyed face.

'Whats got you all sitrred then Wilhiem?'

HUge bloody orcs....almost on top of me and this bloody great barbarian just hits them...all three of them from the side. Up he gets all screaming and smashing about him...snapped this ugly lookin blade he was wailin' on them greenskins with. Takes hits, bleeds and dont seem to matter...but he was bad hurt by the end.

I went to say me thanks and he spat at me and turns.....then BANG! Two of those huge mountain wolves jump outta the forest at him *the man shivers* He grabs one in the air and just....*makes a snapping notion* but then *his hand rises to his throat and he rubs it almost protectively* them wolves is fast..and bite hard.

*Barman snorts* One less of those mongrel barbarians is a good thing in my book

So ends Kormac the brave (from uthgardt side) and the unpleasant (from citybreds side)

There are hushed whispers that evidence has been uncovered suggesting that there was Banite involvement in the orcish assault upon Rivermoot.

If the guard are questioned as to the veracity and what is being done, they remain silent.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Traveler 1: Aye I hear they have Auvandell locked up tight as a drum.

Traveler 2: Any idea why?

T1: Some sorta quarantine... not sure what's going on there. Best to stay clear.

Caravan guards, waylaid travellers, damsels in distress (or even those just going home from work) and regulars at the tradeway inns have been talking about two armoured and swaggering men in glowing terms. The dashing and charismatic Dawnspeaker and the hard drinking and hard laughing sellsword accompanying him have shown no fear in aiding the people of the road.

Orcs, gnolls, bandits and a sea of the walking dead have fallen before them as they’ve aided all and sundry and often not taking gold…especially for dealing with the undead where there humour seems to slip.

Some of the militia, however, have been less impressed with the two. They talk of them being upstarts and ‘just more bloody adventurers’ and not knowing what it’s like in the frontier. One or two of the younger guards, those without food stains on their armour and with the glint of pride still in their eyes, have been heard to quietly disagree with their older colleagues saying maybe the two are right to cajole those who hide in the shadows of the walls instead of bringing light and hope to the darkness surrounding the road.

But still, most people recall them with a smile. Be it the long evenings over ale and the fighter Rehged’s good natured antics with a skinful, or the words of hope and of better dawns to come from the always popular lathanderite Nathan they’ve brought a measure of solace to the people of the road.

Rumors abound that the priest of Bane on trial for murder and collusion with orcs was released after being found not guilty on both counts.

Soon, rumors begin to circulate that the trial of the priest of Bane, for murder and collusion, was tainted by manipulation of the jury by Baneites. Somehow swaying them to find him found not guilty on both counts.

Supposedly, John Shepherd has returned to Fourth Peak and is planning on building a supply shed up there for the fort.

The not-so-famous bard, known as 'Leore' or 'Sin', is rumoured to have begun making appearances at the plaza near the Lady's University in Silverymoon. It appears he has composed a work on the deity of Bane, which has so far only been performed only sparsely along the stretch from Rivermoot to Rauvinwatch. It is wondered if he will perform it within the walls of Silverymoon.

Rumor spreads like wildfire that a former officer of the Argent Legion is wanted for murder of civilian caravan guards. Information leading to the arrest and court marshal of Derek Silverblade will be rewarded handsomely by the High Command at Rauvenwatch Keep.

Adult Wyverns have been seen near to the road just beyond the Rivermoot bridge.

One was reportedly killed, but Sergeant Longarm of the Argent of the Argent Legion has command the militia and townspeople to be alert for possible attacks.

The patrons of the Angler near High Hold are abuzz with talk of Malarite werewolves and werebears in the wood between Quaervarr and Wintersedge, and of dwarves being turned into rabid dogs and wolves in dark rituals. They spin tales of Banites threatening to slay all the beasts of the wood and any who would protect them to end the Malarite threat, and of elves, druids and dwarves allied with bears warning the Banites to stay out of the wood and leave the beasts be.

((For all thos who were there I know this is a bit of an embellishment of all that actually occurred and was said but isn't that what happens when people in their cups overhear conversation outside a tavern? :) ))

Residents of Rivermoot begin to note that between his stints at guard duty and patrolling the hills, the newly promoted Watchblade Ogdenstorm has begun construction of combat dummies and archery targets, similar in construction to his previous efforts, but appearing to be a good deal more sturdy than in the past. Using the boles of saplings and an occassional empty ale keg, he stakes them out, here and there, along the path leading toward the Dogleg Dell, but just short of any area actually in combat range of the area's malevolent critters.

((OOC: I would be more than willing to donate funds for the permanant construction of these dummies, as opposed to the previous temporary ones the good Sir Curmudgeon has been kind enough to place for me, if the team is willing. I see it as part of the H.I. garrison's duty to improve the combat readiness of the locals beyond what little militia training they can get from a chicken.))
<paazin> Elves I bet are kinda fun to play.

A elf powerful in the vile necromantic arts was seen in the company of a Red Knight.

They interrogated a regular at the Whispering Stag over some caravan business or other.
