Thank you, for ...

Taking time out of the other things that keep ALFA going to keep us balanced.

We want to thank you, and tell you we appreciate what you are doing.

Please post something here if you support the new "masked moderators".

On a side note, Thank you to everyone that helped "make it happen."

Hopefully if you get tired or start to feel burned out you can look at this thread and feel how strong your support is.

I fully support what they are trying to do, and understand that their inconsistent manner is not their fault but the fault of the admins who launched them upon their task without sufficiently clear guidlines.

I'd rather they have been nonymous, as I don't feel that should have been any impediment to doing their job, and it is almost certainly only a matter of time before one of them gets outed, leaving us with the question of can they still do their job?

I hope they stick at it and I will continue to point out areas where their guidelines need clarifying, so that they can do their job clearly and unambiguosly, becoming a single impersonal voice rather than 5 random individuals each trying to apply their own interpretation of a hastily thrown together unclear objective.

Good luck.

I appriciate the effort, that's for sure. And attempt to moderate a community like ALFA, with all it's passions and interests and points-of-view... I can't think of a moderating task more challanging.

Any online game developers official forums, maybe /b/ as well, though even 4chan knows better and has started to trial using a robot :D

Edit: Edited the quote to make the reply more directed and appropriate :D

The stakes are different with ALFA, being a volunteer-based project.

Any new venture has kinks. The moderators are human, too, not robuts (sorry, Thangs) and are working very hard against an ingrained sense of "this is how it has always been and it hasn't killed me yet so you should just suck it up". There are going to be some judgment calls that don't match the community gestalt. However, I applaud the fact that somebody is making those judgment calls and putting themselves out there for abuse, moderator or Admin. Something being the way it's been for a long time doesn't make it the right way to behave, just harder to shift from the channel it's worn over time.
Enjoy the game
