Dungeons/Statics-A Little Less Conversation, A Little More..

Post by ayergo »

ACTION!

So lets build these dungeons for the Baldur's Gate server! :D

If you want things to be different, now is your chance to make them so!

There's a lot of talk here on the forums, but who's ready to roll up their sleeves?

I am in immediate need for help in this department.

First the good news:

-A wide variety of options. I have areas i can give you, just populate!

-Definitely welcome new areas for folks so inclined!

-Random static framework already in place including options for several different skill sets!

-No learning curve! I use NESS, so if you can build a dungeon in NWN1, you can do it in NWN2! No difference!

Now things i need volunteers for:

-Dungeon Population. I give you the areas, you put in appropriate critters.

-Adding more options to existing statics. Pretty easy, just copy the ones i already have in place (example: Copy my Fire Fern herbs and make similar Mandrake root herbs).

-Area creation. Not a big priority, but i certainly won't say no to folks who want to do area design!

If you want ALFA to be a place of fun 24/7 again, then pledge right here to help out and what your preference is. Other ideas welcome too!
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

You know I will be there to help ... when I can get the NWN2 up and running.

Sorry all I have is talk at the moment, to a few peoples dismay I might add

Have you created an account on NWConnections for BG? This can be a place to find builders. You will have to show them how to apply...but if you don't get a floodgate of volunteers here, give them a shot.

I was able to put together an entire adventuring party, and almost had a campaign of folks 10-15 ready to join up for playing/DMing and building here... HoyoSaxa campaign I believe. Their "scouts" left because of forums and being treated like "kids". But it seems things have changed do to some iron nutted moderators ... coming in like Chuck Norris and squaring things away!

I'm interested in folks here who know and understand the problem, not folks from some place else that may or may not be kosher. I have faith in the application process here.

I agree with those who have posted about lack of things to do, have felt like that for some time hence my desire to create BG.

Frankly for those of us in this camp its time to "Put up or shut up". If you want to see it happen, lend a hand. If you're not willing or able to put in a few hours of work (easy stuff i might add) then you've no right to complain as far as i'm concerned.

I don't want to downplay the fine work of the TSM crew. Its a fine server, just differing in philosophy of game play (campaign vs persistent world). I think they do what they do well over there, and have nothing but respect for them and their work. I just want to add something a bit different but still within ALFA standards.

I see what your saying...you are right, for those that have the NWN2 ... the things you asked for were very simple indeed.

I don't have time to build dungeons and statics for you penguin man but what I can do is trade you.

I'll beta test your stuffs and borrow ideas off you. In return you can take a peek at my beta dungeons and statics and I'll give you any of my code if you want it, if you give me tags, etc, I'll recode it for you even...

That's about all I can do to help at this stage as I have enough on my plate with teh Moonsea.

May your build progress smoothly and swiftly to live with minimal effort..

First big thanks to Riotnrrd who has stepped up and done a dungeon already!

Also thanks to Mr. Duncan offering to add some areas.

Thangorn, my module, my code, everything is open to everyone. Please help yourself to anything you may find useful.

And another big thanks to Kest for revamping the conversations and adding some detail work!

We're getting there folks. Its little things like this that will add up and bring you the things you want to see in game.

Who else can pitch in a bit like these brave souls?
