Call for DMs - WD returns

Post by Sandermann »

The night is dark, but clear. Selunes tears chase her across a star filled sky as the solitary figure in green and yellow hold his lantern aloft, peering left and right down alleyways and side streets, gloomily aware that a night this quiet is far too good to be true in the city of splendours. We see him turn left from waterdeep way, along the high road towards the waymoot and southern gate.

Too quiet...but as he nears adventurers square the unmistakable sound of revelry and trouble meets him from the shining lantern.

The sky darkens, and our figure looks up with a frown as clouds scurry across the night sky and the first rain drops patter off the cobbled streets and his steel helm, the flame in the candle spuuters in a gust of wind...

...was that the clink of second hand chain mail, did our figure just see a hooded figure with a summoned imp ahead...was that one running, he had damn well better have a reason to be running, and it had damn well better be an IC reason...oh sweet gods, is one of openly preaching about bane over there!. is that one a Drow!?...does that one look a bit like maximus from gladiator, but with Phat tattoos?

suddenly, one of the assembled crowd sees our figure, and edges towards him..then another...in the blink of an their cries resound him.."omg a DM","Heya, any quests on tonight","I think I found a bug", "Where can I buy a +1 sword", "do the horse scripts work on this server"....

they are all around him, can it be, that these are......player characters!

HDM Sandermann looks around in panic at the swelling mass of adventurers, short, tall, thin, fat, low level, high level...he feels panic rise in his heart and draws the silver watchorn, sending a single, crystal note echoing of the now damp cobbles and walls. But will it be heard? will help arrive before it is too late?

:P

ok, as you may or may not know, i'm resurecting the NWN1 Waterdeep module, but I dont have a DM team and im not keen on returning it to live without one, so any takers? Waterdeep is a damn tough place to DM, theres hundreds of NPCs and you are normally denied the luxury of inventing new locations or people to fill your plots cos its so well documented in canon. It requires a close team who keep each other up to date on what they are doing and with who. PM me or reply here and I'll get back to you.

When the issue was brought forth previously as to interest, weather a nwn1 server would be rezzed, I volunteered 2-3 X per week, level 1-5 dmage. That has not changed, offer remains. Low level action is a necessity in responding to recent and future PR attempts for the platform, and I am more than happy to supply a safe, friendly environment where players new to ALFA as well as Returning Senior members can CREATE THEIR OWN STORIES and have those stories acted upon.

If further information is needed, feel free to PM me.

My first home in ALFA. Good to see the old girl rising from her long slumber. Good luck guys!

I've got no DM chops, but I'll come visit!

It will be a week or more until I have a chance to DM, I am occupied with Northern Cormyr, but I will volunteer for DMing on a random basis with a possible 1/week commitment in the future.

I will also volunteer to act as a liason for the server and the NWConnections commununity, in order to solicit more DMs and/or Players.

I am only a PADM at the moment, however I was a full DM on WD for a year or so back in the Thrassy/Cipher days, so I am familiar with the module.

That was brilliant.

We already spoke briefly with Sandermann about this, and Daniel's words are very true:
Low level action is a necessity in responding to recent and future PR attempts for the platform
We're currently looking into the different oppertunities for NWN1 PR. This would certainly qualify as such an oppertunity. If any prospective DM's fear that there will be a lack of players, let it be known that opening a new server with low level content, plots and players will certainly be a major help to the upcoming PR campaign.

Shadowdale still has a slew of statics for the younguns.
It could use another DM or two since several are taking breaks, but a couple are running plots yet. Viigas torments and confounds the dwarves on a weekly basis and Zelk is running stuff as well.

That aside it'll be great to see Waterdeep among the Living again. It had something for everyone and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the server. :-)

I'd be happy to chip my time in, if you care to have me. I'm also building for TFN, so I'd be splitting time, but I spent years DMing there before, and I know it reasonably well.

Sand has been MIA for over a month. As this was his initiative and he was to be host, there's not much we can do without his presence.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.
