ALFA Items hak, v1.48

Post by AcadiusLost »

By popular request, I've integrated a selection of additional items into the new alfa_items.hak (which is now nearly double its previous size). Among the additions are 3 new helms and 4 new hats (incl. turbans, tricorne, and wizard hat), 42 new shield models including bane, torm, tyr, redknight, tempus, and morafdin ones, barechested (or nearly so) trouser outfits, plus a variety of gith/vampite/safiya/torio/vestal outfits which work for female humans, elves, halflings, halfelves, and planetouched.

An example of some of the new item material is here:

These should be ready to go onto the worldgate at any time now, I've also made blueprints for most all of the possible new item appearances to help speed buliders along in adding the content to their mods.

Very nice work handling all of that!

Around the same day or so another fantastic items mod was released, though. Is it too late to have this included?

Absolutely fantastic additions AL, thanks very much.

And Kest, those items are amazing. Absolutely agree with you about adding them. Man, it's so nice to see the community just churning so much quality content out. Makes me want to open up 3dsmax and join them.

I'm going to be out of town for a few days, but I can hold 1.48 until those VFX-type helms can be integrated. Unfortunately, it may take a bit longer for them, as I believe I'll have to merge their custom code in with the ACR's OnEquip and OnUnEquip events.

I dont see a problem with glasses. Ive seen a number of characters in the FRCS have glasses on especially gnomes or halflings.
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft.

Hmm I've seen goggles and jewler's pieces but tell me that half-orc with glasses doesn't look goofy. :)

Glasses are fine, space hats will be out, no worries. But now you can finally put on your robe and wizard hat. Also, the steampunk goggles. My instinct is to take those out but I seem to remember some gnome art with that sort of gear--does anyone know what I'm talking about? If we can find some examples we'll leave that in.

Picture from page 148 of the FRCS. Gnome comes from Lantan, the isles off the coast of Chult.

Glasses are mentioned in Aurora's Whole Realm Catalogue (c.1992 AD&D) for 8 gps. They are also presented in this pic of Quayle, an NPC in the Baldurs Gate game -- http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Quayle

Image

Nadul DaRoni, an artificer gnome based on Leonardo DaVinci, possesses goggles (see artifice items). Also, many of his 'flying' artifices are indicated in Auroras Catalogue. -- http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rp/20040114a

Semi-goggles are also worn by Jan Jansen, a gnome party member NPC in the Baldurs Gate II game. -- http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Jan_Jansen

Image

I don't doubt such things might also be popular with pilots of Halruuan skyships and gnomish flying artifices.

And yes, i couldn't find any justification for the space helmet, although i think it would make for an interesting water-breathing magicked item.

I stand corrected. Half-orcs with glasses will roll a -2 intimidation. :P
