That seems unlikely anyway, since their main competition would be...themselves.

I'm looking forward to starcraft 2 than this POS. Meh to whiny kids on the battle.net talking about their shitty pixel l00t & bowazons.

Hahahahah, three days after the official announcement of D3, and already fanbois, kiddies, and trolls on the forums are whining about how much it sucks.
In a bit of interesting news, a couple of those threads feature photoshopped screenshots from the gameplay video, where they decreased the saturation and contrast, and it looks stunningly grittier and more like how you would think Sanctuary should feel.
Comparing the photoshopped screenies to the original ones, it's almost funny how the color scheme looks too bright and cheerful. I never noticed this watching the videos for the first time - I was too busy drooling all over myself and screaming out "OMFG!" and "WHOA!" every five seconds.
Moving on another tangent, They (with a capital T, to encapsulate the abovementioned forum shitters) have already been making comparisons to WoW on just about every level. Ridiculous if you ask me, but I can see how they can see that, considering it's the same company who developed both and possibly a few people from the same teams.
Lastly, reading the faq, I chuckled when one of the questions glossed over a release date by saying the effect of, "We'll take as much time as we need to make it to where it fits our standards". I chortled. This is Blizzard, after all, so Diablo 3 will more than likely miss about three "release dates" before it finally goes gold - as is Blizzard's wont.
All said, however, I can't friggin wait. I foresee LANs and multiplayer with friends (possibly even ALFAns) galore.

I spent an hour and a half last night going through Cain's Journal, listening to the loretastic background and how they laid everything out. There were even some extra video clips included (ingame cinematics from the earlier games) that related visual goodness in addition to the text.
I think the site design is friggin fantastic. In particular, I was fascinated with the way they handled the journal pages. You can click any corner, and if you drag it around in any which way, it moves and shifts just like how a real page would move. I was blown away by that.

blizz always does over the top web design. It's fantastic. - I hope diablo 3 is larger than diablo 2, less linear (randomed dungeons.), and easy on the wrists.

As long as they kept the world being destroyed I'm happy. I wonder what the rest of the classes will be. Barbarian covers the fighter type, Witch Doctor replaces the Necromancer. That leaves at least some sort of ranged fighter and some sort of wizard, plus whatever else they want to toss in. If they keep more D2 classes I want paladin and assassin back.

They revealed two; Barbarian and Witch Doctor. They said five more will be revealed, I believe.Grand Fromage wrote:As long as they kept the world being destroyed I'm happy. That leaves it open to:
Assassin
Amazon/Rogue
Necromancer
Paladin
Sorcerer
Druid
Monk (oh shi-)
Bard (wait wut?)
I'm willing to bet that the core classes of D2 will be included or blizzard could go the opposite route and include completely unheard of classes.

In Non Diablo3 news...

Despite ongoing efforts with StarCraft II, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and Diablo III, PC developer Blizzard has confirmed that it has another MMO in the works.
"There is still one unknown project," Blizzard executive VP Rob Pardo revealed to OnlineWelten.com during the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational. "We have another development team."
Pardo affirmed that Blizzard's recent job listings for an "unannounced next-gen MMO" were not related to Diablo III. The company had previously stated that the project was not a World of Warcraft expansion either.
Fans have long speculated that Blizzard may follow the ultra-successful World of Warcraft with a World of StarCraft MMO. Others believe that the project could be a new franchise.
And as for a release date on any of the three known titles? "We ship the games when they're ready," Pardo commented. "You guys know this."
