And don't forget the BRAND new Moonshaes campaign Jodyhamilton started 2 weeks ago.
It -is- low level, takes place every Saturday at 19 GMT and so far we have a 1st level (Rogue) played by Arkan, a 4th level (wizard) played by me and hopefully, an elf with serious skin problems, played by Paaz

Damn I forgot JenWa!! Also forgot Shaihulude, who is a returning player that just rolled up a new PC on SD. Edited my original post to include them.
Keep in mind that the list is not culled from the server census threads, I went around and asked players and DMs who they had actually logging on and playing on their servers. So there are definitely other players I did not include simply because they aren't currently active enough.
The split looks something like this:
NC- 14 players 3 DMs
SD- 18 players 4 DMs
Sembia- 16 players 5 DMs
Moonshaes- 2 players 1 DM (Moonshaes being primarily a campaign server)
Interesting to note that the split is pretty even amongst the 3 most active servers (though we need another US time DM on NC).
Also...
And if at this point some of our wonderful and devoted NWN2 builders are saying, "If they would just build for NWN2 instead we'd get there a lot faster"... Well, you are correct. However please keep in mind that not everyone has the hardware to run NWN2, this includes NWN1 players and builders. We are also devoted to our already in-progress campaigns, the IC development of our PCs and the still-unfolding story of our servers. It's likely that for "the rest of us", the changeover will eventually happen, but it will happen gradually.
OK that's all k thx bai.

Indeed, do not let the fear of 'catching up' stop you. If you want to roll up a new PC I encourage you to be proactive and contact the individual DMs on the server you're interested in and see what they have going on. For example, the campaign I run has 5 players in it, all who are mid to high level, but because my campaign focuses heavily on investigation/intrigue rather than pitched battles, there is no reason why a lower level couldn't join and with some savvy playing be perfectly fine in the group.Brokenbone wrote:Hm, best guess is about 20% of the list are playing 5th or under PCs... if one has the inclination to play in NWN1, do not let "level 1 catchup" scenarios deter you, there is probably a group of similarly situated PCs to link up with someplace.
Another excellent point. There have been A LOT of great improvements to the game in the last six months or so. Most recently an addition of numerous awesome critters to the palette. Not only are there players playing and DMs DMing, there is a whole lot of building going on, from the recent eyecandy improvements to Shadowdale to more personalized projects, like the thing Chamu just built for his campaign (sry no spoilers!).Brokenbone wrote:There have been a good many efforts to enhance / improve the game over the last half year, whether in terms of eyecandy or other scripted stuff making its way in, may be fun to check out the game again, even just to see the facelifted stuff in action.

I genuinely enjoy the campaigns I play in and the people I play with. NWN1 is still fun and ALFA is still awesome, if in different ways. If you haven't tried playing in awhile, I encourage you to give it a shot. Because...

It's easy to forget what ALFA is really like sitting here reading these forums. All this exists to support the game world. It's really a shame that there are only 53 people currently taking advantage of all the hard work that's gone into supporting that game world.
Go ahead, log in when others are on and send some tells and try to jump in. I bet more often than not you'll be glad you did.
