Again, the assumption is that planetouched are something bad to be avoided. I just don't see it. We don't have any of these so-called "solutions" for any other race in ALFA.

What about half-orcs? They *should* require more work that plane-touched who can largely pass for human. I was under the impression that the "global solution" for drow was to give them their own server.

What about drow? There's not KOS script in place as far as I know. The remaining Drow PCs roam the surface (since NU is gone). They get along with other PCs and NPCs as DMs and players see fit. They get dealt with IC.Magonushi wrote:*see Drow.Mulu wrote:Implemetation proposal: We roleplay here, no scripting is necessary. FACT: Enough people in whatever ALFA demographic feel differently than you do that plane-touched were disallowed.
Now, you (the inclusive you of everyone, not just Mulu) can keep banging your head against the wall, making statements like "I just don't see it" or "This is unwarranted paranoid thinking" or whatever unhelpful statements you want to make that do nothing except put you on the other side of the fence...
Or you can conceded that (whether you agree with them or not) some people have their reservations and perhaps you can speak to those reservations in a manner that does something other than basically just call them 'dumB' for having those reservations.
Ergo, Wynna's helpful statement, her little hint to all you plane-touched wanters to give you a way to go about getting your plane-touched.
You can blah blah blah, or you can do something constructive.
You people do realize that the entire Baldur's Gate series was based on playing a plane-touched PC, right? The ruleset was different, but the underlying concept was the same.

It matters to the extent that it reduces new membership....
I find the arguments against inclusion, KOS scripts, global solutions, etc., to be a total straw man.

Griping can actually be constructive. Gripe is a derisive term for pointing out when something is displeasing. And that which is displeasing to a goodly number of ALFAns should be properly debated. The Admin have, in the past, attempted to put this issue to rest. Our attempts failed. This gives us some clue as to the depth of the divide, the seriousness of the problem. That does not mean one position is right, the other wrong, but that the subject remains a problem - attempts to deal with it have, so far, failed to quell the masses. Accordingly, more work needs to be done.

Planetouched don't require anything that wouldn't be required for half a dozen other races that we do allow and have always allowed as a community.
HDMs already have the ability to ban players or PCs from their server for no reason at all. It is little trouble to utilize this right as a way to de facto require approval of PCs on a server. It is already common practice to have server-specific expectations of the playability of various races.
Its a simple matter of preferences and tolerance of bias. Will we treat planetouched differently simply because they aren't already in the door, or not?
Regardless, the entire question is premature unless somebody is considering building content specifically for planetouched in an nwn2 server. Only once nwn2 servers are playable need we consider the question again.

I'm still trying to figure out why planetouched would even need their own content. Aren't they just humans with some interesting ancestry and abilities?

Oh, and I see absolutely nothing constructive in presenting an obvious straw man fallacy as an artificial hurdle to inclusion, other than to prove to me exactly how little thinking went into this, and how irrational the prejudices are against inclusion. This is a marketing issue, it will effect our future recruitment.JaydeMoon wrote:Ergo, Wynna's helpful statement, her little hint to all you plane-touched wanters to give you a way to go about getting your plane-touched.
