There is a difference between private companies selling goods and the us goverment supplying the goods. Next no source material is listed.
You will find that this country supports or has supported just about every goverment on the face of this planet at one time or another. Especially since the author throws in private companies selling products over seas as support.
I have no doubt that we have backed up some bastards in our time, I personally think that this type of policy does not work.

A rather diplomatic way out there! Give the captors medals and release the prisoners as a gift. I assume that certain people in the government weren't too happy with the Revoluninary Guard's actions, but had to come up with an out that would appease them, which I would think would involve holding the captives for a couple of weeks instead of folding straight away. Unless this was the plan all along.
I noticed none of the prisoners in the photo were wearing uniforms, so it's not just the woman they "muslimised".

Exactly what I was hoping for. Let the Iranians posture - no one believes their crap, and the important thing is our sailors are back safely.
Interesting to see that a US helicopter is reported as having been brought down by machine-gun fire this morning in Iraq...

Helicopters are flying lower to avoid shoulder fired missles, thus they come into risk from small arms.
I'm not at all surprised by the outcome of this incident. I nearly posted a couple days ago that you guys were debating an issue that would be resolved before the thread was. Should have trusted my instincts on that one!
An interesting thought experiment: What if it had been US soldiers captured? And no, they wouldn't have "defended themselves" against obviously overwhelming force, despite some cocky Lt. Col.'s out there claiming they would have.

I've said all along that this was just a PR move to look tough in the eyes on Iranians and the Muslim world and that the "hostages" would be returned unharmed and well-treated in spite of the efforts of a couple of weak-assed sailors who were undermining the British efforts to get them back.Mulu wrote:Helicopters are flying lower to avoid shoulder fired missles, thus they come into risk from small arms.

I just caught a glimpse of a senior US Naval officer on CNN saying that US Marines would never be taken without a fight. That's probably true now since security would surely be beefed up with extra firepower circling above the boading parties. Anyone approaching would be blown out of the water which just might spark the "accident" Madeleine Albright has long feared could trigger a wider regional conflict.

Iranian britian hostage incident = pomp and circumstance.
Ohh, that sweet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I want to have his beard baby. He's such a nice guy for letting those sailors visit iran. It's nice that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad invited them in for apple pie and orange juice.
He did that diliberatly to hide the fact he's a total asshat. Let's all be serious. Iran will continue to use hostages as bargining tokens because they hold no true power on the gobal stage. We know that, they know that. All this friendly behavior is just B.S. on both our parts. Now, here is where I say something completely over the top as a republican just to anger liberals. . .
We should bomb the hell out of Iran and pave a parking lot over them.
LOL Burt, JINKZ!!!
