Do you like this new design for the ALFA website ?

Post by Hialmar »

Here is the design Tridisus made for ALFA and that Ghost and I are working on:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/newdesign/

After all the recent problems due to my decisions in ALFA, I'd prefer if people tell me that it's not what they want for ALFA in order for my team and I not to work for nothing again.

Thank you.

Yeah, it's great. Trid is a good designer for sure.

But the focus, given all of us geeks tend to do in relation to ALFA outside of gaming, should be on the forums. We need a nice new forum theme, imo. If that's what you and Ghost are doing, excellent.

Looks great!

The only thing I'm not sure about is the background to the menu, with the thiefling (?). It looks a little bit empty with just that one feature there.

Looks more apealing for sure...would like to see something a little more interesting then the bearded generic human however....lets make things more exciting if possible. (easier said then done, especially from someone without the skills to help)

Trid has done several characters: elf girl, drow girl, dwarf, halfling, tiefling, human guy and girl.
The goal is to switch the character each time someone click on a page in the website.

The website/forum integration would be a lot of work and I don't think we will do that. If someone is interested however they can talk with the next Infra Admin ;)

OMG what if.... what if we could have featured characters of the month or something. Put up peoples actual characters for public showing off and stuff.

The DM crews could nominate characters to go up on the site if those particular characters had been making themselves quite famous on their server for the month or something fun.

Would it be occasionally possible to do such a thing? It'd be like a hall of fame thing.

While a "PC of the month" does not really appeal to me, the idea of having hall of fame PCs appear (unnamed IMO) would be excellent.

I like that idea Cynon (with Swift's point taken), also as per Twiggy's request, if we could feature the named-year banner at the top I think it would help frame all of the other content nicely. Otherwise it looks great. Thanks Trid. :)

Yeah obviously it would be slightly in bad taste to just name certain DM favourite PC's, PC of the month and have the characters appearing on the web page as some kind of elitist selection of ALFA's players who happen to be the most popular people around.

If it worked like that i'd never get a character on the web page

It's just the idea of having everyone that wants to, have their PC's visible on the webpage occasionally, like a sort of fun way of motivating people to play a PC that makes a difference in game. A reward from playing a character that effects those of others.

I like the look of the page fine.

The idea of "PCs from IG" being on that left area is kind of neat too. Asking everyone interested to submit a PC picture and presenting a random one (as opposed to a "famous" one as determined by goodness knows who) might be interesting. Dead or alive, just the page pulls "something" randomly maybe.
ALFA NWN2 PCs: Rhaggot of the Bruised-Eye, and Bamshogbo
ALFA NWN1 PC: Jacobim Foxmantle
ALFA NWN1 Dead PC: Jon Shieldjack

I like the general idea, and the menu is great. Im not so sure about that color though. Would definately want to check out some other color options.

I like the idea of putting HOF characters there. And also nominating more of them.

Hell, the idea is out there, you guys decide what to do with it. As long as I see my own PC pop up now and again i'll be happy forever. :D
