How Do you Cure the Lycanthropy Affliction?
I am told it can be done in FR setting....is it true?
I already know that injesting fresh Belladonna within one hour of being bitten (if you make the poison save) can stave off the affliction. What other ways are there?

Until recently, this ancient forest, a remnant of the woods that once covered the North from the river Delimbiyr to the mountains of the Utter North, was the home of the moon elves. This ancient race of elvenkind lived in harmony with men and dwarves in a kingdom that stretched to the east of the forest, in what is now rolling moorlands known as the High Moors. Even before the times of the Fallen Kingdom, this was part of the
vast forest that was elven Illefarn.
The forest is forlorn and largely empty. The elves have left the forest of tail blueleaf, duskwood, and weirwood trees unattended. This region was known as "Faraway Forest" to the elves because, although it was near the coast of Faerûn, it was still far away from what the elves considered home: the island of Evermeet.
Somewhere deep in this forest is the overgrown tomb of Reluraun, a warrior-hero of the elves, who lies in a vault clad in elven chain mail, with a dragon slayer sword +2 on his breast. According to legend, the tomb is not unattended; magical creatures guard Reluraun's remains. "Ardeep" was the name of the western region of the Fallen Kingdom and now gives this forest its name.
A manicured clearing in the forest surrounded by unusually tall and thick-trunk elms is a relic of Illefarn. The refreshing glade radiates constant protection from evil, and it´s always spring here, regardless of the season. Cure disease spells cast here always cure lycanthrope, regardless of the level of the priest. Elves feel an incredible, restful aura of peace here, and other races can vaguely sense the clearing’s calmness. Nonmagical wood brought into the glade comes alive and magically begins to sprout leaves and roots.

The area it describes is actually built in the DF server.

.. and is within the scope of the nwn2 waterdeep server build, at least it was. Their plans may have altered since we have the game in our paws.

In 3.0 (not sure if it changed at all in 3.5 but I imagine it is the same or very similar) remove disease or heal cast by a cleric of at least 12th level within three days of the attack cures it, remove curse or break enchanment cast on one of the three days of the full moon plus a DC 20 will save by the character also breaks the curse. You can keep on trying the remove curse route until it finally works so sadly lycanthropy isn't too hard to cure.

Why would you want to just take the Improved Control Shape Feat and you can control it and the powers benefit you?maxcell wrote:I am told it can be done in FR setting....is it true?

Re: How Do you Cure the Lycanthropy Affliction?
Before the era of lycanthropic PCs munchining their form so as to maximize benfits and before the era of learning how to control shape, lycanthropy was actually something undesirable........I know it's hard to believe now, what with the DR/silver etc etc. ......but some folk used to think uncontrollably morphing into a savage beast that killed friend and foe alike without discrimination was actually a curseScorpion Ninja wrote: Why would you want to just take the Improved Control Shape Feat and you can control it and the powers benefit you?

I agree that it was or is considered a curse but it can be beneficial.dergon darkhelm wrote:Before the era of lycanthropic PCs munchining their form so as to maximize benfits and before the era of learning how to control shape, lycanthropy was actually something undesirable........I know it's hard to believe now, what with the DR/silver etc etc. ......but some folk used to think uncontrollably morphing into a savage beast that killed friend and foe alike without discrimination was actually a curseScorpion Ninja wrote: Why would you want to just take the Improved Control Shape Feat and you can control it and the powers benefit you?

Yes that is true but I thought he meant for PnP.fluffmonster wrote:It shouldn't be considered beneficial here, since here lycanthropy basically means the PC has to be retired. Well, not just basically...it has to be retired, period, as soon as the first form change happens.

I thought using a Unicorn horn would help too, but that may just be for poisons.lycanthropy
acquired by
Being bitten by a werejackal, werewolf or wererat in their animal form.
Eating a werejackal, werewolf or wererat.
May be lost by eating a sprig of wolfsbane, quaffing a potion of holy water, or prayer.
effects
Each turn in your natural form, you have a 1/80 chance (1/60 at night) of changing into your wereform for 499 to 999 turns.
Uncontrolled polymorph will cause you to change from animal to natural form or vice versa.
You are immune from system shock.
Holy water vapour will cause you to return to natural form, but will not cure lycanthropy.
Quaffed or vaporous unholy water will cause you to assume animal form.
In animal form, you can summon 1 to 5 pets with the #monster command:
wererat: 2/3 sewer rat, 2/9 giant rat, 1/9 rabid rat
werejackal: jackal
werewolf: 4/5 wolf, 1/5 winter wolf
This uses 10 energy and exercises wisdom.
