Heroes

Post by Lusipher »

So, who plans on watching the premiere tonight on NBC? It is supposedly written by some comic book writers and deals with ordinary folks getting super powers. I'm going to give it a tivo taping and see what I think. Only thing is its the same time as Prison Break and Monday Night Football

I am very curious about the show...maybe I'm just a sucker for sci-fi, who knows. Hope its good, though I really don't need another TV show to get sucked into.

+1, especially with BSG coming back on. I've had to pass on quite a few shows that I simply don't have the time to watch, like Alias and Eureka (though I don't know if Eureka is actually good).

I caught most of one Eureka - looked like Sliders, though with better writing.

I only caught the last 20 min of Heroes. The garbage disposal thing was a bit silly, but at least we've a buy-in for Super Dog now *shudder*. Overall, looks to have a lot of promiss.

Mulu, count your blessings for missing Alias. Quality went into a downward spiral in the third season, and never recovered by the time show ended.

I had the option of watching "Heoroes" or catching up on the second seasons of BSG and Lost.

Lost won, Heroes lost.

Well, I'll be sticking around for a few more episodes at least. I can see a lot of potential for it to get better or get worse. The big question is whether this X-men ripoff will be able to do something different with the basic premise of mutant superheroes.

And yeah, the garbage disposal thing was pretty gnarly. The whole family was disturbed by that one.

Your 100% right that its a X-men ripoff. I'm still going to watch it, though. Writing is good so far.

Also, yes Alias tanked hard the past few seasons. I just quit watching it.

Just downloaded it and watched it. I like it.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

The advantage of heroes as opposed to the X-men is that Heroes can actually do the sorts of things the X-men titles should do, but can't due to the shared-universe thing.

X-Men wants to be a world-shaking, universe altering title, but it can't be, because if it were it'd wipe out most of the other comics. Ergo, it never fulfills its potential.

Heroes has some promise imo, and hot chicks. It feels sort of like a crossover x-men vs the 4400. I liked the way it cuts in segments from different parts of the planet complete with language and everything.

Eureka that was mentioned earlier ive followed since ep01s01, its good simple entertainment and most of the cast is actually very good, especially the daughter and the deputy.

Another very promising show this season is Studio 60 on the sunset strip. I've seen the first two episodes now and im definately going to follow it if i can find the time.

Lost though has completely lost my interest. They can't keep holding off the "secrets" for this long. Also, some of the acting doesnt 'make sense' any more imo.

As for the best show this season i think i have to say Entourage. I urge you all to check out season 1 for yourselves. Very good entertainment indeed. Season 3 ended this summer, and season 4 should start soon.
