Quite true. The soul of Faeryl Auvryndar now stands as Lolth's appointed guardian of the entry to the underdark, insuring that any who attenpt entry are first sorted and marked with their appropriate racial, house and guild rank.

She will never again be seen walking the streets of Ched Nasad, but her influence will always be present.

Nice writing Trazk. I personally enjoy reading the IC happenings. It helps me feel a bit more in touch with the server. Thanks!

Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

The words of Pharaun ring in my head even now at this late hour of the cycle. In our first conversation alone the drow of few words lets loose an encyclopedia in a simple phrase.

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

Pharaun what have you done? Where has the organization that I joined in its infancy gone? What does this mean for me and what can I do to solidify my case in the face of the upcoming chaos I see before me?

I began the cycle in search of work to help me clear my head. There is usually someone looking to hire and a few hours of mindless duty seemed just the thing to clear my head. I discovered a merchant looking for chitine sacks and made my deal with him before heading out into the underdark in search of my prey. After several hours of searching and one particularly tricky spot involving skirting the territory of a minotaur tribe, I was able to find and kill my quarry.

Upon returning to Ched Nasad and turning in my catch I chanced upon a cloaked man in the Glowing Goblet. He struck me as intriguing as his first words to me were, “whose armor is that?” As I was and do still wear the armor taken off the “Shadow” Mik’laysee and I killed when in public, I stated simply that it was my own armor. He seemed satisfied with this and stated he simply wanted to avoid members of the Brotherhood. This branded him a true child of the streets not totally unlike me so I invited him to drink and perhaps exchange information.

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

Soon after we sat we were joined by Mik’laysee and again sat to begin to chat. At this point yet another interruption came in the form of Pharaun who had the ill manners to gut the gentleman on the spot with no explanation, take a glove from one of his hands and leave with still no explanation. Baffled and slightly angry at the actions of Pharaun, Mik’laysee and I decided to see an old friend that had been able to provide information to me in the past. Sadly she was not available that night but a new opportunity opened itself and I ensured it would continue to be open. Mik’laysee had to depart for other business so myself and my informant sat down to talk shop.

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

It seems the Shadows have gone from the House Unnamed, Jas himself was seen ensuring there was no trace left of their presence and was overheard stating they were heading back to their roots. It appears yet again that the stories of Jas’s demise are slightly exaggerated. I learned that the drow Pharaun killed so rudely was in fact an informant for the “Shadows” and can only surmise that he killed him so quickly and without explanation due to his worry that the man might finger him as a member of the “Shadows”.

I discovered that the symbol on the gauntlet was the key and was in fact a black dragon which would have been a clue as to his identity. Very good Pharaun, in removing that glove, knowing Mik’laysee and I would examine the corpse. However my network gets better and larger each day. I had the information in less than one hour which is better then most. I have let the word get out that I wished to see this Sion and am currently looking for him on my own as well.

Pharaun. Are you acting alone or is the shadowy nature of the new ventash’ma a clue as well. Has the guild already been taken by the Shadows and is this all a fools errand designed to weed out those still loyal to the old leadership? Or perhaps is this a test to see if we can be trusted…

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

My thoughts swirled around me as I returned to the guild hall to find Zaktiriz in my room waiting for me. He had interesting news, that Pharaun and I had been given entry into Zhennu Orb for the next class. It all started to fall a bit closer to together now. Pharaun came during our conversation to “check on my health” as he put it. No doubt the presence of Zaktiriz in my chambers was a surprise to him and he made an excuse to justify his presence. He is testing the waters of my association with Mik’laysee but to what end I have not yet discovered. I have my assumptions of course but we shall see at Zhennu Orb if he reveals anything.

Mik’laysee plans a trip to Menzoberranzan with a trading caravan in the coming weeks to repay a debt there owed to Faen Tlabbar. As I was part of those negotiations this places me on edge as I do not like old failed deals that seem to have unpaid debts. It makes me wonder what the bae'queshel is up to and where he plans to go with that.

“Just remember Trazk…every body casts a shadow...”

Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.

Very nice. Though Pharaun's exact words were "every body casts a shadow"...I chose them carefully.

Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.

Never trust a drow bearing gifts…

This cycle began with a summons to meet with the ventash’ma in his quarters for Pharaun and me. This is remarkable for various reasons, not the least of which being that the ventash’ma never gives orders such as this directly. He spoke from the shadows as usual and ordered us to the Glowing Goblet to contact a priestess of Qu’ellar Melarn and ask that she accompany us back to meet with him. He stated she had been a nuisance and that she would come willingly. Again my danger alarms were ringing in my head but Pharaun and I went as ordered.

Never trust a drow bearing gifts…

At the Goblet we found the yathrin speaking with a captain of her guard named Rizzen and what appeared to be am emissary of some sort. We were shoo’d away by the captain but allowed to deliver our message. Our message stopped whatever negotiations the yathrin was having and she decided to come with us immediately. What struck me as odd about this was the yathrin told the emissary that his matron would have to wait for their negotiations to finish.

Does the ventash’ma have the kind of power now that he can force a yathrin to ignore a matron to meet with him? A trip back to the Goblet to speak to my contact there may be necessary to try and discover the reason and text from the meeting.

We arrived at our guilds headquarters and escorted the yathrin and her captain to the quarters of the ventash’ma. We were ordered to leave and after only a few moments heard the screams of both from his quarters. The door to his quarters opened and the ventash’ma ordered us to take the head of the yathrin and place it before Qu’ellar Melarn as a warning. Something odd in this though…

If it was to be a warning not to mess with Tuain’t Luthol then why did he burn the symbol of the Scoured Legion into the yathrin’s forehead? The bodies had no marks at all other than this and their faces were locked in a look of extreme fear…..how did he kill them? Was this the same female from we saw at the meeting with the Scoured Legion in the tunnels outside Ched Nasad? Could the ventash’ma actually be Khannyr Vhok or one of his agents?

We took the head to Qu’ellar Melarn and Pharaun dropped it off on their doorstep as ordered. As we were leaving he encountered a male just outside their fence that saw him through invisibility and his skills and warned him to tell his vetash’ma it was not wise to anger Qu’ellar Melarn. The male then laughed at some internal joke I assume and went inside the compound.

Why did the male not kill at least one of us and how did he see Pharaun through both his invisibility and his skills? Did the death of the yathrin suit Qu’ellar Melarn or perhaps the machinations of this male within the Qu’ellar?

We returned to the guild building and informed Rua of the success of our mission and then set out to the House Unnamed to see if Mik’laysee might appear from his various rendezvous that night. Sure enough the old bard appeared whistling a tune popular among rothe herders and joined Pharaun and I for a drink. Pharaun had stated he needed to speak with us on a matter of life and death earlier in the cycle and wanted to do so in a private place. We were in the House Unnamed and he attempted to use the “shadow” gem access to the back. This raised the hair on the back of my neck and its significance was not lost on Mik’laysee as well. The guard stated the backroom was occupied and thus we traveled to the Goblet and acquired a room there.

Never trust a drow bearing gifts…

As suspected Pharaun is a member of the Shadows, or claims to be. He states that the current ventash’ma pushed him to this point. He joined them instead of infiltrating them as was his orders from the ventash’ma. He also claims that he has mysterious benefactors and that they will ensure that the ventash’ma is dead or otherwise indisposed within the next two and ten days. He wanted to know where Mik’laysee and I stood in this regard, with the ventash’ma or against him. As expected he offered Mik’laysee command of Tuain’t Luthol again which was of course a goal of ours. But this was a very predictable goal of ours and has been known to be since our return from the dealings with Menzoberranzan that cost Mik’laysee the leadership so long ago. Of course the meeting had the usual drawing of blades from Pharaun and the announcement of if we were not with him and his allies we would not leave the room alive. This was of course amusing and futile in the extreme as even had we not been with him we would have never stated so openly no matters how secure the location. We assured him we were against the ventash’ma and allowed him to leave without bloodshed.

Never trust a drow bearing gifts…

After the meeting Mik’laysee and I discussed various options and the uncomfortable feeling that our fates were intertwined in the web of the Dark Mother with forces far above us. It was not a feeling we had never shared before and the last time it cost him Tuain’t Luthol and me nearly my life.

I need to find this Sion and get reacquainted with my contacts within the city once more. I also need to look further into Khannyr Vhok and see what I can discover about the possibility that he has taken over Tuain’t Luthol. I have much to learn and little time to learn it in it seems.

Never trust a drow bearing gifts…

Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.
