From the journal of Trazk Al'Dzra...
A good read indeed, shame my internet connection got annihilated on the night in question though.

Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.
Mik’laysee continues his machinations and dreams of a return to power through alliance with the ibith of Tergrash Forgesnuffer. Tonight I met the ibith for the first time and although definitely lacking in manners it seemed functional enough for Mik’laysee’s needs. There is no doubting the significance of the piece should Mik’laysee be able to place it on the board but to put as much trust in the ibith as he appears to is random at best. As deep as Miklaysee has fallen into the web of the Dark Mother he certainly doesn’t seem to understand the circular patterns around him. It falls to me to watch his widening backside as my fate appears to travel the same thread as his of late.
Pharaun….betrayal is the meat on the Dark Mothers plate…one too many faces in the mirror it seems…
A shared drink in the tavern with a guard gains much information this evening. The reason for the imprisoning of the duergar was confirmed as suspicion of treason against the guild. Upon further investigation the imprisonment is for show and a trap has been set for “The Shadows”. The guild brother known as Jas started “The Shadows” as a potential rival to Tuain’t Luthol and has been discovered. They were supposedly found and destroyed by Valen, also known as “The Swordspider” as a gift to Qu’ellar Auvryndar.
Why would the death of traitors to a merchant guild be a “gift” to Qu’ellar Auvryndar?
This was discovered through investigation to not be the case as tonight’s events illustrate. I continued to investigate this disturbing question and discovered an attack was planned against Tuain’t Luthol for that very cycle. After this realization I decided to check on a few assumptions and discovered them to be true as well. I checked the duergar guards that were locked up in the company’s cells and discovered they were indeed armed and armored within their holding cells. This confirmed to me that the ventash’ma also suspected an attack and was holding his duergar in reserve to tempt the attackers into a trap.
Well done Zakteriz…a little passive for my tastes but productive and sufficient…
After quietly checking that our defenses were quite adequately prepared to spite appearances I traveled out into the streets to check for signs of the impending attack. After several turns about the fourth level I tracked a human female to The House Unnamed. I watched her show something shiny to the commoner male guarding the door in back and gain entrance.
What could have the shiny object been that gained an ibith access to an obviously exclusive area of the club?
Upon determining that without said object I would not be able to enter I traveled back to the streets to continue my search. There I ran into an agent of Zhennu Orb who claimed to be searching for the same female ibith on orders from the Orb. I was able to feign interest in helping the agent of the orb and allowed him to discover the inaccessibility of the backroom without bringing too much attention to myself. Afterwards a quick bit of coin to a barmaid allowed me to find out the token needed for entry and the inhabitants of the room. It was slightly amusing to find that “The Shadows” were still in circulation and that this was one of their holes. The shiny object was a Black Opal with a duergar symbol on it, generally carried by their nobility as proof of birth and station. The Shadows had been giving them to trusted allies as proof of trust and one of these was the key to entry.
Tergrash Forgesnuffer bristled slightly when I allowed my knowledge of these gems to slip in conversation and confirmed my source as to the origin of the stones. He also confirmed the place where one could be acquired should one be needed, the market of Grackstugh, a duergar city.
A few hours surveillance outside in the streets once more allowed me to discover a duergar taskmaster moving through the crowd ensuring that troops were in place for the attack. After tracking his movements for a while I approached him and was able to defeat him and retrieve a stone. I then returned to the guild hall and spoke with Mik’laysee on the matter and we decided to move against “The Shadows” in the House Unnamed. After receiving the blessing of the ventash’ma we were able to bluff our way through the guard with the stone and enter the backroom to find Jas and the human woman now identified as Drin.
Drin…its role in this is unknown but it appears…appears….
We were able to take down Jas and then subdue Drin for transport back to the guild hall. We promptly doused the ibith with alcohol and I vomited on her to allow the illusion of a drunken stupor. The latter causing me no small amount of amusement in doing so. Our bluff paid off and no one in the outer bar even looked up as we made our departure. We made it back to the guild hall without incident and turned Drin over to Rua as requested by the ventash’ma. Either the death of Jas or the “disappearance” of Drin caused the attack against the guild hall to not occur and it has not occurred to this point. Rumors persist about the cycle’s events and who may have been behind it. To all appearances Drin was in charge of the attack or at least a significant portion…that is still to be seen.
War……
In the next cycle it appears we go to war with Qu’ellar Auvryndar in the lead against the duergar of Deepgloom. They have been identified as being behind the attacks upon our guild as well as undefined affronts to Qu’ellar Auvryndar. Perhaps I shall have a chance to converse with one of their commoner soldiers during the trek and find out more on that front.
War is change and chaotic in its beauty. The Dark Mother has truly blessed us in her bringing us this opportunity for change and chaos in our lives.
Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.

Pride. Arrogance. Both are words I would have used to describe how I operate within my guild, before last cycle. In my pride and confidence I forgot that I am nothing but a pawn in the web of the Dark Mother. Last cycle she reminded me of this fact and placed an exclamation point upon the punch line. It could not have come at a more inopportune time but that is the nature of chaos, its beauty which derives itself within its randomness.
This cycle I awaken to view my dark home and existence in a new fashion. Calm has come over my senses that I had not experienced before. Perhaps this is a gift from the Dark Mother for a lesson learned. My sword feels more comfortable within my grasp and I can almost feel its existence as an extension of her will through me. Last cycle I fell from her web and touched the chaos below for just a moment and then was reeled back to do her bidding once more. Pride and arrogance take a back seat to quiet, reflection and sense of purpose.
Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.
The cycle began with preparations for the coming war with Deepgloom. Many of the company’s soldiers had already made their preparations and I was no exception. Upon finishing I decided to travel to the House Unnamed for a drink with Mik’laysee and found him in the company of Xerhthral Claddath. After pleasantries and Mik’laysee’s usual baiting and banter ensued we were approached by Vedo Auvryndar and Pharaun. They brought a message that we were to aid Qu’ellar Nasadra with a pre-attack mission and were to report to the east gate on level three. It seems the ibith duergar had found a way to tunnel out of their surrounded city and had emerged near the Ammarindar mines. There they were planning to attempt to contact forces within Ched Nasad for aid in the coming war. This obviously could not be allowed to happen thus the representative of Qu’ellar Nasadra, one Jax, ordered our raiding party to wipe out the ibith completely.
Pride. Arrogance. Vedo assigned Pharaun to be the scout for the raiding party. In my pride I smirked at this choice, believing myself the better scout. Praise the Dark Mother she taught me my skill is not enough where the laws of chaos are concerned. As we approached the encampment I sought a closer look to establish numbers within the camp. I saw the loose rock and still I could not stop myself from setting foot upon it. Before my foot fully hit the stone floor the rock had shifted and the guards were on us. I had endangered the entire patrol with my arrogance and misjudgment.
The fight was not going well and we were forced to retreat back down the caverns the way we came. The noble Vedo was less than impressed and threatened to kill me on the spot for my mistake. Just as I was beginning to defend my actions verbally I was struck in the back sharply and awoke moments later with Mik’laysee over my body. He simply shook his head and melted into the shadows to finish the melee in the dark that surrounded me. Through sheer will and no small dent in the healing potions in my pack I was able to regain my strength and catch back up with the raiding party from where I had been left to die in the tunnels.
Without a word I accepted their scorn and threats as just reward for my mistake and silently thanked the Dark Mother for her lesson. We were joined at this point by Tergrash who had been sent by Rua to collect us for the final briefing. A command decision was made by Pharaun as ranking guild member to remain until the mission was complete and then return. The final assault on the small encampment was a slaughter and I killed with quiet detachment. We were able to find a letter that appeared to again come from a Qu’ellar within Ched Nasadra and promised aid should the ibith attack Qu’ellar Auvryndar. We kept the note and then traveled quickly back to Ched Nasad where we were debriefed by Jax. He quickly sent outriders to destroy the siege engines we discovered at the ibith encampment.
We made our way to the guild hall and into the main audience chamber to find it filled with the nobles of Qu’ellar Auvryndar. We were briefed by Ghal’tera Auvryndar and were to be led on our portion of the mission by Princess Sheyreiza Auvryndar, High Priestess of the Dark Mother. It appears the ibith of Deepgloom had placed a ward upon their city that we could not bypass without the use of a runed gem of some sort. One of Qu’ellar Auvryndar known has Faerylene had apparently been kidnapped and gained one of these gems at the cost of her life.
I wonder if these could be the same gems “The Shadows” were giving as tokens to their trusted friends. If I see the Auvryndar again in the near future I shall have to inquire on it.
Normally this would only allow one person entry but the house wizard of Qu’ellar Auvryndar had devised a way to teleport a small party through the gem and into their main trade hall within Ched Nasad. We were then to take out the duergar priest that was maintaining the ward and allow the reinforcements waiting outside the trade hall to pour in for the slaughter. Easy. Or so we thought.
We made ready and gathered in the arcane circle for the teleport. It was a sensation I really can not describe and hope not to experience again. Upon my head clearing I found myself with the others in the trade hall of Deepgloom and under attack from archers in arrow slits and guards charging down the halls towards us. Again the Dark Mother had seen my arrogance and pride in my fighting skills and as a result of her dark lessons I hit the stone floor more times than a one legged goblin in the market place on nobles day. Luckily for me and all of us Qu’ellar Auvryndar is in the Dark Mothers favor and after a long and extremely bloody series of three pitched battles we were able to kill the priest and secure the trade hall. This of course dropped the ward and allowed the blood thirsty children of the Dark Mother full access to the trade hall, ending those ibith's existence in darkness and blood. We were victorious and made our way back to Ched Nasad with booty and a brand new zombie army for Qu’ellar Auvryndar.
This could be a blessing or a curse for the Qu’ellar, if they show too much strength they could make those above them uncomfortable. As we are currently allied with the Qu’ellar I shall have to keep an ear open for rumblings from the top of the web.
We returned to the guild hall and made our report; our wounds and booty told the story of our success. After speaking the Rua we heard from our mysterious ventash’ma that still chooses to speak from the shadows.
“What you did this cycle, will forever be recognized within these halls as a time of stepping back from the ledge. We have saved ourselves from falling into an abyss.”
He then named the four of us “Tuain’t Luthol’s champions” which has still yet to be explained to me at least. It has a strange ring of title to it and responsibility without gain that takes on the din of a tin kettle hitting stone. Something given but not yet fully earned and thus not completely appreciated. His final words to us were to finish the task and root out the last of “The Shadows” and put a final stamp on their threat to the company.
As I recall from my conversation a few cycles ago with a serving female at the House Unnamed the bartender there apparently enjoys bragging about “The Shadows” being regular customers and friends of his. I think in a coming cycle I shall have to pay him a small visit and see if I can loosen his tongue a bit more.
Tonight I got my first taste of war and I can truly see the beauty within the chaos that exists in its nature.
Blessed be the Dark Mother and may her web catch us all and show us the dark chaos inside, keeping away the cursed light.

Excellent Trazk, excellent. However it seems clear Shey did not make a substantial impression upon Trazk in this, their first real meeting. She will have to correct that and leave a more lasting impression the next time.
**Hefts her morningstar.**
Yes, this should leave quite the lasting impression.....

J/K of course - I love your journal.

I think you may have heard Sheyreiza say that Faeryl Auvryndar was with Lolth (meaning dead) - but not Faerylene Auvryndar. Two different people. Faeryl Auvryndar was Faeryl's old forum-RP character whose persona forms some of the background of current ALFA Ched Nasad (or so I think).
